Hmm, so pressing left arrow for ~1-1.5s should place John right on the ladder, I'm gonna see if it's possible to walk down to the kill screen while doing the puzzle

edit: After some tries the only thing that happened to me is that if you hold left arrow while the puzzle finishes it moves you to the left screen, if you go right it places you right where you would've been if you didn't press any arrows. I've also tried pressing Z in the left side hoping that this screen change would save ladder position or something, but unfortunately no :(

Heya,

so in my recent run I've got a glitch in tape 12, where I didn't have to wait for the girl to fall asleep. I've been mashing a bit when standing next to the car and the alarm didn't sound off and the killing music played immediately, instead of the normal sequence of turning off the alarm, waiting a bit at the door and then walking in. If anyone wants to join me in figuring out if it's repeatable I'd be glad :D EDIT: It seems that for the glitch to occur, Z has to be pressed on the first possible frame so that the alarm doesn't have time to produce sound. It's hard to do but with lucky mashing it can happen Here's the glitch:
