I'm definitely open to adding both 100% runs and co-op runs. I will try to add them this weekend, but in the meantime feel free to do runs! Also, if there is a big enough demand for IL runs, those can be added as well.
Yes, there is already a discord server which houses all rugrats speedruns. feel free to join us! https://discord.com/invite/eKkaFw6
I am welcome to having a discussion regarding timing in the discord. I feel like choosing the character is a part of the run, similar to how Super Mario Bros. 2 starts on new game, and not on first character selection. That is why I put the starting time where I did.
the board isnt split for graphics, but rather separating the actual NES version of the game. The actual NES version likely has more lag, so my guess is that modern is faster. However, that lag could result in skips possible on NES but not on the other consoles/pc, so we will see.
I literally installed a Windows 7 Emulator, and had one of my friends help me out. It was a whole hassle. I'll add you on discord though and maybe I can help get you set up sometime
As series mod for the Rugrats videogame series, I was asked by a user last week to make Rugrats Go Wild as a game. I just now realized that somehow when making the game on the site, something glitched and there are two copies of the leaderboard - one which has the game setup as well as an empty any% leaderboard (the real one), and one that has absolutely nothing. I want to delete the bad one, but everything Im finding regarding deleting a game is not working, despite me being a series mod and super mod for the game. What am I missing, or is this because a week passed since making the game?
I just realized the issue, the game first released on the Windows store on July 24th, 2013. In 2015, it was released on Steam. As such, it will keep the original 2013 release date. source - https://tygame.fandom.com/wiki/Ty_the_Tasmanian_Tiger_4
it would appear you are correct, I legit have no idea how the wrong year came to be. Gonna fix now.
Something similar I've been toying with for a while is a Sprash Decathlon - Crash 1, 2, 3, TWoC, Twinsanity and Spyro 1, 2, 3, EtD, and AHT all 100%. Only game stopping me at this point from doing it is probably A Hero's Tail, but maybe one day.
An older version of the game has certain bugs and quirks which have been patched out of the recent versions. As such, many runners opt to get the older version. You don't need it though, you can run the game on the current version.
Hi, we are still determining how best to handle the Switch, PS4 and Xbox One versions. Most likely, they will become their own variable alongside original console and PC, however that is not finalized. Feel free to join the discord though if you want up to date knowledge on the speedrun!
I would say no. We already have each level individually as an IL, and doing them by world is just arbitrary. If you are not interested in running a main category like all levels, then just do IL runs.
this being said if you are interested in speedrunning the halo series, you will want to go to haloruns.com, as the halo speedrunning community runs its own site as opposed to using this one (Hence why only category extensions and co-op runs are on this site).
I've been speedrunning for over five years now, and run over 60 different games, yet with only one exception I don't care how well I do compared to WR. If you ask me, speedrunning is less about being faster than everyone else and more about being able to improve your own times. In no way am I trying to say that people who strive for a WR shouldn't, but you can speedrun without doing that. Going back to what OP was saying, don't beat yourself up over what one runner can do and you can't, instead get a good time with the strats you are able to do, and over time learn more and more. Not only is that a more successful strategy imo, but it makes for a happier speedrunner. Just my two cents, and I know a lot of this was already discussed but it is worth emphasizing.
So after a few runs have been submitted and I have seen a few runs from different versions, I have reached the conclusion that IGT is completely inaccurate.
Looking specifically at the Football Cup runs done by ComradeMidas and Doopster made this apparent. ComradeMidas begins the race ~0:33 into the video and ends the first race ~2:56 into the video, meaning his IGT should be around a 2:23. Instead, they have a 1:55.288. Now look at Doopsters run. Their first race begins ~0:32 into the video and ends ~2:48 into the video, meaning their IGT should be around a 2:16 (or around 7 seconds faster than ComradeMidas). Instead, their IGT is a 2:10.528
At first, I thought this was a version difference between PAL, NTSC, and whatever version our Russian runners are using (It may also be PAL, I'm unsure sadly). However, look at the current WR run for all cups done by Genia. Their first race begins at ~10 seconds into the video and ends at ~1:53 into the video, making their theoretical IGT around a 1:43. Their IGT actually is a 1:43.348, meaning their IGT is almost certainly 100% accurate!
At this point, all I can say is I am confused by this games IGT. If anyone has ideas as to how all of this can be explained, please let me know. I'm sure it has at least some explanation regarding frames per second, since afaik games in Europe (and I presume Russia?) run in 50 FPS as opposed to 60 FPS like the USA.
Anyways, to solve all this, main timing has been switched from IGT to RTA to make things consistent (hopefully).
This is not an option on the leaderboards, however personally I believe if people really wwant to do runs with other characters, then do the four separate character category and just get rid of the all category. After all, is it really fair in the first place to compare a Pura run to a Coco run? However, if that is not an option, then I would just create variables.
Hi, I am a mod for https://www.speedrun.com/ty2 - A runner submitted a run around nine days ago, but with a dead video link. As such, I keep trying to reject the run, however every time I click reject, the page dies before I can even type in a rejection message. I thought giving it some time would solve the issue, but it has not. I don't know why this is the case, and am more than willing to give more info as needed. I will contact the runner outside of src in the meantime to let them know the situation and that the run is being rejected.
EDIT: Upon further reading the past messages in this forum, it appears I have the same issue regarding google chrome. The run is being rejected now using IE.
Hi, I am already a moderator for Rugrats: Royal Ransom ( https://www.speedrun.com/rugrr ) and would like all other mods to be removed, as none of them have been active on the game for over a year, and 4/5 haven't been active on the site in over 4 months. I tried contacting the one who was most recently on via twitch, however never got a response. This message I sent him (redmoss) was sent on 12/17/18, 3 weeks ago. I understand that getting rid of other mods and making myself super mod is not technically necessary, however I believe it just creates confusion if people attempt to ask a mod something and only 1/6 mods are even active. Additionally, can SlyCooperPlays be removed from the rugrats series as a supermod ( https://www.speedrun.com/rugrats ) given he has not been on since June? If there are any questions regarding my requests, I will answer them as quickly as I am able to.
