I think with this new Update, there opens up a completely new Categorie.
Is it faster to say "Yes" in the pet Adoption cutscene or no?
@SpaceGoat: The same in Long grass. I'm allways using my scythe to clear a way through the South and North, so that I don't have to walk through that stuff again.
Does anybody know, how to trigger the "crop fairy"?
Also: Days with high luck give you more Items in the Mine and a better Quality Result when Farming/Foraging.
I'm going to rout it today in the evening and will do a first test run on twitch ^^ You can tune in if you like (if I can force myself to stop watching Germen Speedhausen xD).
Uhm, in the current Patch you should not be able to glitch into the Casino, not through stairs in Level 120 to skull mine and you should not be able to get through the doorkeeper.
This category is very different...on the one Hand, it's pretty easy, on the other it's a bit hard and time consuming.
You need the following:
14k $ 10k Qi Coins 500 Star Tokens (Stardew Fair) Luck at the Traveling Cart 40 Artifacts for the Museum Bus Bundle unlocked Qi Riddle finished
I don't know if this could be a good category, alone the Casino issn't really easy and could be very time consuming. Alone the time, that you need to get to the Casino is very time consuming....if you would make the category "Rarecrows minus QiCrow%", it could be good xD
@testicles12: Yeah, forgot that.
@TorpidSloth: Allready read that and I'm looking Forward to that patch :D I'm really curious what CA will pull out of his sleeves for this Update xD But till now, I'm going with the route I wrote above, let the testing begin :)
I think, it would be easier to take Maru or Abigail. Both are easy to find everytime in the Game and both could be "pleased" with stuff from the mines. Abigail has Birthday in Fall, Maru in Summer. To marry them you also need Money for the Pendant, so it would be good to do the Mines runs and sell everything you don't need for Gifts. Maru is a bit harder than Abigail, because you can her Only bring Diamonds or Gold/Iridium Bars, but she also loves cauliflower and strawberrys (a SPRING Seed)....so the Plan could be for Maru:
Make enough Money to get enough Cauliflower Seeds and or some Strawberrys -> Plant them All -> Save a Few Parsnips (are the Second loved Thing for Maru) -> Go Mines (a lot of stuff found here could also be gifted to maru as "second best gift" like Earth Crystal and Amethyst/Quartz) -> When Spring is over, concentrate on making enough Money for House Upgrade (10k + 450Wood), the Pendant (2,5k) and the Boquet (200g): 12.700 $ needed -> Buy Everything, don't forget to talk to her everyday and gift her two gifts every week and her Birthday (allways gift her the best possible) -> Marry her
Could be a nice sidecategorie to the normal 50k categorie. It's possible, but it's hard. You have to clean your farm and sell everything, fish a lot (hard at the beginning, but after two Fishing days shouldn't be that big of a Problem). You know what, I'm doing a 50k No Crops% run these days :D
I had said: The Mines are 120 Levels deep...so go 60 or full, but if this issn't an option, I'm going to vote for 40.
I also thought about some categories for Stardew Valley:
- Any% - Finish the Community Center
- Mine % - Finish the Mine at the end of Spring (or get to Level X / We allready have that here)
- 100% - Get 13/13 Rating from Grandpa after Year 2 and complete the "Shipping List"
- Friendship% - Get Everyone in Town to at least 8 (or less or more) Hearts in the first Year (should be no Problem with getting Every Birthday and gifting every day.
- Marriage% - Get your Husband/Wife as fast as Possible
- Single Bundle % - Get Bundle X
- Legend% - Catch all Legendary Fishs
- Joja% - Buy a Joja Membership and buy at Least x (one or two or all) Upgrades
- Protector% - Complette all Adventure Guild Goals
There could be soooo many. Personally I like the 100% (Long run, many ways to Improve that) and the Friendship%. But I'll try my hand at a 50k tomorrow :D
Greetings,
just asking, if there are any available Splits for Livesplit :) Didn't found anything on splits.io, so I'm asking the pros :)
Thanks in Advance

Greetings,
are there gonna be new Guides anytime soon? Or something about the new RNG Manipulation?
Question: How do you gonna find such stuff? Are you playing with Bizhawk and opened Ramwatch? How do you now, what codes you have to watch? I would love to help here.

Thanks, good to know.
Anyways, I'll propably go with a normal US SNES or Super Famicom.
Greetings fellow Speedrunners,
I'm going to buy a SNES Console in the near future. Though I'm living in Germany, a Pal one would be better for me. The Problem here is, the most SNES Games are Speedrun on NTSC Versions. If I would buy a Pal-to-NTSC Adapter, would the Adapter made the game more sloppy? Input Delays or something like that? I'm very interested in this, to get my old snes back, that I sadly sold at the age of 12 to get a PS1...shame on me, I know.
Thanks for your time

Greetings,
I hope, there is anyone active in here xD I loved Secret of Mana as a Child, I played very very much. After seeing some Runs, I finally decided, that I'll try SoM and play it first casually, learning the Game again and the whole lot of Glitches that is there in SoM. There are some Questions here from my Side: First: I don't want to directly adapt to the WR Strat. I want to find my Own Route. Whats the best way to do that on a Game, big as SoM? Do I just start the Game, play it and cut it in different Parts, where I then can route these Parts?
Second: The Glitches. There are a few of Glitches used to Speedrun SoM. I allready got the Money Glitch working, but I don't really understand the Equipment Trashing Glitch. Like I saw in a run, this Glitch is used to get more Walnuts throuhg destroying not used Equipment. Because I have to Walnuts in my Stash, this would give my allways 16 Walnuts without buying some new. Also, the Knowledge Base of SDA doesn't have a proper explanation about that.
Third: I got a Question about the beginning of the Game, which seems to be different through Versions. I first started with the German and European Version. As soon, as I leave the Water Temple to go to the Canoli Brothers to get to the Navael Ressort (The Dwarven thing xD) I just get the Message, that Viktor (the Knight from the Beginning) had taken care of my flight to the Watertemple. If I now do the same on the US version, I can normally fly to the Navael Spot. This seems to be a big difference in Route here. Are there more differences like that in the Versions?
For Speedrunning SoM: Are there Emulators not allowed? I'm currently playing with the snesx9
Greetings, ph1l and sorry for my bad English.
Thanks for all those great replies :D I think, many new Speedrunners, reading this thread, will get a good point of view where and how to start, what to do and what not (like for example attempting doing WR strats).
I for myself are now struggling with the following Problem: I finally decided to do a Secret of Mana Speedrun, but first have to play it normally. There are some glitches, that aren't that easy to learn/to do and I have to try them all out. The game is freaking hard, if you play it just "normal" but without killing everything like you would on a Speedrun xD The problem now is, I allready watched a Speedrun of it, and now get frustrated if anything doesn't work like I want it to work, because I've seen it like that on the Run and want to converse it to my run xD Thats a dumb habit I got here and I'm trying to overcome it by just playing the Game Casually and without attempting any Speed.
I would make 3-4 like n3r0t said, and to that, one Category: Special of the Week/Month where you take one of your favorite Speedruns of the Week/Month which took your breath away or is really stunning. Or maybe some Speedrun, where you got a good laugh.
