Alright, I added all three categories for submission. I tried adding Helvitza's runs myself but the site kept reading them as my runs despite putting in Helvitza's name (?), so feel free to submit your runs and I'll verify them!
I think both would be acceptable, I would be willing to add them as categories so long as a finished run is completed for them.
I found this a few months ago, but forgot about it.
For reasons I don't really understand, it's possible to clip through walls if you're able to run along them and nudge your angle to the point where you can turn into a wall and clip. It's super unreliable but it seems to work on a lot of walls in the game.
Hopefully this is useful to somebody!
Now the question is whether this works on any other NPC blocks.
Ah really? Would you mind documenting them, we can make this thread a general trick discovery thing, considering the lack of resources available currently.
Sup y'all. I was messing with this game and I found a skip that looks to save like 15-20 seconds in a speedrun.
Basically what you need to do is start doing a walking jump (right for a bit, Right + B ), swap to Meeko towards the start of the jump and wait for Pocahontas to land, then swap again and hold Right+B. If you do it right Pocahontas will land on the other side without falling.
The important thing to note is to make sure Meeko is out of range when you swap, as what's happening is the game is deloading the log but still allowing Pocahontas to jump onto it without falling off.
I've been getting it every time with this setup, and I'm pretty sure this could lead to further skips in the future. Just thought I'd share, cheers!
Apologies, been very inactive and haven't checked the forums. I've added mapcap as a modifier for any% and 100%.
Hey all, apologies for the inactivity.
I re-sorted all the categories for clarification. Some runs may have gotten deleted in the process, if so just re-submit them and I'll verify them again.
I also went ahead and made Metruption a moderator just so changes don't have to wait on me any more.
If you need a separate IL category for the IOS version's level packs, create a run with video proof and submit it, and a new IL will be created for it.
'No, you speedrunners are taking the word out of the context of its actual definition, twisting its meaning and assigning it a gerrymandered one which you shove down a hundred thousand viewers' throats bi-annually. I don't think the meaning you assign to it is negative per se, I just think it is incorrect. '
are you serious dude. Oh man, we're using words that don't entirely fit with the context of what we're saying! I should get really triggered about this and make 500 essays on the subject!
Or, you know, move on because nobody in their right minds is going to listen to your complaints seriously.
It's just a word lmao. The only negative connotations are the ones that you assign to it. Do us all a favor and don't be a special snowflake in the future.
Chiming in to say using a turbo controller for a game that isn't 100% text based is stupid. This isn't Final Fantasy IX. You should use skill to get a WR, not a controller.
Odd glitch. It's also possible to clip through the doorways of the Grand Staircase if you constantly spam the "call partner" button while swapping between characters to slowly push a third character through a door, but it's incredibly unreliable and doesn't seem viable to skip anything.
Hey-o! I'm grampaglasses, otherwise known as that dude who did a TAS of this game.
Anyway, I've been messing with a glitch I like to call Surface Sink Clipping, and I found an application for it that should save about 40 seconds in a speedrun.
To do the glitch, you need to find a surface that Spidey can attach to, but is unable to climb up (for example, a door). All you need to do from there is hold forward and keep pressing the jump button to detach him from the wall. Continuously doing this will slowly sink Spidey into the surface he's in.
Once you have the comic, just reset to get out. The comic will stay collected.
Unsure if this works on any of the other versions. I have yet to find another good application for this trick, but if I do I'll let you guys know.
Hello, me again. Sure hope someone sees all this!
Just die at any point you've activated the cutscene and you'll get it. Game gives you the form right at the start of the cutscene. This can be done on all the genie cutscenes, should save about 45-50 seconds if it's done quick enough.
Big one, only need one squid in the first labyrinth instead of four. Saves I believe about 50-60 seconds, might mess up the day/night cycle though.
Very little RNG required compared to minigame or enemy farming. You need at least 50 or so gems to get started duping, since this trick doesn't work unless you can buy the item.
Reposted from my description:
'To do this glitch, use a storm puff so it'll hit and kill Shantae right where she finishes walking to talk to the shop. This will allow Shantae to move around when she's supposed to be locked in place (This can be done in other cutscenes too, most notably the Dance Genie cutscenes).
The real kicker here is what you can do after that. If you purchase an item while Shantae is leaving the screen, the game will ADD money instead of taking it away! This is trickier then it looks, however, as if you do it too late you won't get anything. Every item has a different timeframe to do it, but generally speaking the lower the cost the item is, the closer to fading out the screen has to be for it to work.
EVEN BETTER, if you mess up this trick and don't get the extra gems, YOU STILL GET THE ITEM.
So yeah, have fun.'
Edit: Actually, all you need to do is take damage for it to work, you don't have to die for it activate, unlike other cutscenes. So it should be pretty easy to do RTA.
