have the A button pressed (or any of the jump buttons if playing Sonic 2) while the level loads so you mulligan to some coordinates that were saved as a consequence of your last shot played in the game.
Here is a video showcasing two FB2 strats:
-
A route with slope glitch through the first part of the level. This requires getting slope glitch from the capsule boss in act 1, by standing on its shoulder as it is destroyed.
-
A fast 4-4 boss fight with no flame attacks. Tolf's respawn position is manipulated so that he doesn't interfere with the boss fight.
That's a nice shortcut in WIng Fortress. Unfortunately I'm only reading this post now, after I submitted my latest PB, and I'm not in the mood to do more runs in the immediate future (but who really knows).
You'll have to show it off to the world during the Big Bad Game-a-Thon next month.
I hereby propose that
- The main category of the game prohibit input on the 2nd controller during the run.
Given that both PBs on the board don't use the 2nd controller, there is no need for the second category (an all emeralds category would be more natural, probably nobody will run it).
- The timing method be changed from RTA to RTA-TBC.
This is in line with all the classic sonic games that run in real time. Any frame where a time bonus is counting down or a continue time is playing is subtracted from the total time of the run.
