This is a thread for miscellaneous glitches, tricks, discoveries or ideas that anyone stumbles across that we might be able to work with for the sake of speedrunning. Whether or not these are RTA viable is not really the point, I just think having a spot to dump ideas would be good.
Announcer Speed: The announcer says the characters names at different rates. Of the 4 capable of doing the backwards throw strat, Boba is 15 frames faster per fight than Han, 19 frames faster per fight than Jodo Kast, and 17 frames faster per fight than the Stormtrooper. Boba Fett is the fastest character across the board, saving between 2 and 3 seconds over the other characters over the course of an Arcade Mode run, more in Survival.
Taunt-skip: The taunts when you defeat an opponent are a flat 2.5 seconds across all characters. If you fall off the ring after your opponent has already been declared dead by ringout, you skip the taunt animation. You can force yourself to keep moving after the announcer has started talking by performing a long combo. This doesn't seem useful as a main strat because the regular strat of throwing the opponent over the edge when they behave well is still faster, but it seems like a good back-up strat if the enemy AI does not behave and does not come directly to the edge for the easy Ringout, you can do this to make-up some of the timeloss. This video also shows a weird thing that happened where Thok flies back towards the ring, but falls through the floor and dies by ringout.
Instant Ringout: I have no idea what caused this, its a total mystery to me. I have yet to be able to replicate it, I will update the thread if I ever figure it out.
After a (relatively) high number of new submissions as of late, I thought it would be worthwhile to create a Discord server for speedruns of all Star Wars fighting games. Come join us if you would like to join in discussion of these games!

Hey guys, I've posted a new guide here on SRC with a video I made outlining the speedrun strategy for Inferno and details on all of the things that can go wrong in that level, which as it turns out there are plenty of. This level has some serious problems for runs, like run-killing bugs, softlocks, and easy-to-fail strats if you don't know what you're doing. So I hope this guide can help anybody looking to run Resurrection get through their runs!
Video is posted to the Guides section here on SRC.
Hey guys, I just wanted to throw out that I've added the discord link to the main Star Wars Speedrunning server to our leaderboard here, we can talk in the Revenge of the Sith channel; I added it sometime ago but never really "announced it" so I wasn't sure if people knew. The link is also here:
Hey guys! I just wanted to announce that I have made and posted a language comparison video for the Obi-Wan game in the Guides section here on SRC. I am pleased to say that we were correct about Italian being the fastest language for the game, and I am very impressed that we were able to tell just by estimating it!
This video proves with certainty that Italian is the fastest language for both Any% and All Levels Obi-Wan, and I do believe it is safe to assume that this is probably the case with the Anakin game as well, however I plan to do this same work again with the Anakin game to confirm that Italian is the fastest for All Levels Anakin as well.
Thanks guys! Hope you find it helpful!
This is a link to the main discord server for Star Wars speedrunners, if anybody is interested: https://discord.gg/2DkcJa4vmv We have our own channel in this server, #galactic-battlegrounds, that the mods of that server made pre-emptively. So if anybody wants to have a discord where there is a channel devoted to this game, this would be perfect for that.
I noticed today that the game identifies Basic Training as being on the Easy difficulty. If you have the game set to show the timer, speed, and difficulty in the top left corner, the game says it is on Easy difficulty during the Basic Training missions. Previously, we have all submitted Basic Training runs to Moderate because no difficulty can be selected.
I'm sure some people have noticed this already, but either way, if everyone is OK with it, I can move all of the runs that have been submitted for Basic Training to the Easy subcategory and also add something to the rules that says that all Basic Training missions are done on Easy.
Does anybody have any objections to this?
Im considering running this game but tbh I think this should just get answered either way. The game is available on PS4 and XBox One in "The Ezio Collection" along with Brotherhood and Revelations. To my knowledge there are no advantages to playing on PS4 and Xbox One. If this is ok, they should be added to the list of available consoles so we can submit runs for those consoles.
Thank you in advance :)
This is a discord I preemptively made for speedruns of this game, you're welcome to come talk about the game with me there or message me on Discord @StarFalco64#0116
The link shouldn't expire.
Can the levels be played on any difficulty for full game runs or should they be completed on moderate difficulty like the level leaderboards show?
Thank you!
The version differences between the Wii and 360/PS3 are honestly kinda staggering, to the point where the level designs are hugely different and some levels are only in the Wii version, and vice versa for the 360/PS3.
I want to run this games Wii version and wonder if a Wii run would fit in with the Console categories or if a separate category itself should be made for the Wii. In a lot of ways, they were two different games.
Please let me know what you think! :)
So I've been bored and had recently thought about a different Marvel Nemesis run where you have to do all 5 of every character's missions, call it "All Character Missions" or something of the like. The only missions you can't do are every Elimination Round unfortunately.
I also had a thought for 100%, where you have to start from a fresh memory card and unlock all cards, vs. characters, comics, movies, etc. I don't know about this though cause it would require probably more than 2 whole play throughs.
Out of the two of these I'd prefer All Character Missions than 100%, atleast for now. Only cause 100% for this game would be quite long.
There are 2 tricks you can do to knock a lot of time off on each and every level. If you select a "New" file, after every level you will see a roughly 3 second long "Card Unlocked" screen. By starting the game again from an already completed file, the cards will already be unlocked, and this cutscene will not play. This applies to literally every level of the game. The second thing is to turn off your autosave. This will prevent the game from saving after each level. These 2 things combined send you straight to the mission select screen after completing a level rather than waiting 10 seconds to get back.
This is also why I think the wording for the Time Start rule is a bit misleading. My WR run was verified and I did not select a "New" file necessarily, just started a new game. This was also before rules were defined. The rule should state something like "Timing Starts on Starting a New Game", rather than selecting "New" on the menu.
It's an enormous time save and worth a slight wording modification. Thank you.
Just to open up more categories for the game, how about a category where you just best the games prologue? Timer starts on file select and ends when Krystal releases the first Krazoa Spirit. This would make for a very quick run but fun too. You could call it Prologue or maybe just Krystal.
I do see a few objections, primarily that its mostly cutscenes. But still. Just an idea.
