I have tried messing with memory maze using your method in the gloom tunnel, where you clip through the door slightly and die but had no luck sadly but hopefully you can find success with that, game definitely has potential to be full of skips since the end of level triggers are always active unless it's a key or an item.

The juju man cave is a simple thing to explain but hard to do. I call it a load jump, you can do it all over the game but basically it is double jumping slightly before you hit a load trigger, with practice and line ups you can get them somewhat consistent but you only get one attempt at them because once you have hit the trigger it goes away unless you reload the level.

Something else I know about that I didn't go for in my run is clipping into the witches hut without fighting the crows. There is some weird hit boxes on the left of the tree and with a good double jump swipe (I will refer to these as DJCs because it is basically a Double Jump Cancel) you can clip into the tree and trigger the loading zone to progress without having to fight any crows, issue is this is by far the hardest trick as I haven't found a line up for it.

As for the mechanical/clockwork levels they are a fiesta for skips as you will see in my run.

There is also a prison skip. Just after you get your hammer back if you go behind the safe and DJC you can clip out of bounds and run to the load trigger, skipping the slowdown power up and the fight just after it.

I also discovered something new in my current PB. In the bomb maker section I was mashing to skip the crows dialogue and ended up very high out of bounds, I was in the middle of a run and didn't really experiment with it but just another thing to add to the list.

I have also found many other OOB that I am still experimenting with but I might have a Pipe n Drum skip fairly soon but this one is more of a theory craft then an actual strat at the moment.

But yeah that's basically all I know about at the moment, I am sure there Is much more stuff to discover especially since OOB in this game seems really easy to pull off as long as the maps hit boxes are a little weird you can get out of bounds with speed boost very easily most of the time.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas of your own for skips and such :) also here is the run in case the mods for this game aren't active or busy

What skips are those? Just asking because the ps2 version is actually a gold mine for skips and stuff. I tested a lot of things way back on original hardware and let's just say there is a lot of potential and I really do think there is a lot more to find on the ps2 than the Xbox. When my run gets verified you will see some new skips that I found years ago just never got around to doing a full run of this game but I think you'll find the ps2 version is where it is at for skip potential due to it being a bad port.

I was using the weird bug that makes the second to last bosses toothwheel bag refresh when you leave and enter the area to farm the toothwheels to set up a stacked NG+ file. I got mostly everything and was gonna continue to do it today but the game autopatched because stoopid me left my PC on.

I have basically everything for NG+ runs besides a weapon and armour, just thought I would see if it was possible to downpatch not only for my sake but for future NG+ runners since it is a simple way to set up a NG+ file with all unlocks.

If anyone can figure it out and share it here for everyone it would save a massive grind for unlocks and it would end up being healthy for the category once it is made since everyone can start with even NG+ files as well.

If the downpatch can't be done then NG+ will probably need some discussion on rules or maybe there is already a better method for farming toothwheels?

I am not yet an official runner for this game just sharing some thoughts I had, so take this all with a grain of salt. Just wanted to open the discussion and maybe get the ball rolling on an NG+ category discussion and see what can or can't be done. :)

So as Texyle has said the IGT in now accurate and I switched the timer display to prioritize IGT over real time but apparently there is a bug with speedrun.com where if a game starts with real time as the main one it won't fix and you can't switch it to IGT over real time. The only fix is too change it to without loads BUT then we would have to reverify every run on the leaderboards. So there is 2 ways about this.

Firstly we could change it to time without loads but all current runs and world records would have to be resubmitted or edited so they would show up on the leaderboards again as I would have to edit the whole structure which if it is something we are for I can work on.

Or we just submit runs as we normally do but just put your IGT in the Real Time slot when submitting runs and I can update the rules to explain why we have done this to clear up and confusion new runners would have.

So there you go, one of them is a fix that would involve a fair bit more work and the other is a work around until maybe the bug gets fixed.

Yeah we can change it to 1-39. It is supposed to be a chapter select category, before we had the speedrun tools we just played 1-40 through the chapter select after completing the game. I had a run there but then Deception got changed to only have return so I deleted my run as is was no longer valid since the patch I ran it on had blink unlocked as well.

The all maps categories are just supposed to be those select levels without any unlock requirements. I wanted to have as many ways for people to run the game as possible and breaking up all the mission types seemed like a fun way to do so.

I understand the confusion though since i haven't had a chance to update the rules too much since all the speedrun tools have been added.

We an change it to 1-39 or make it so you play the game on a completed file and then just play missions 1-40

I figured since we have runners now and a plethora tricks, one of which is very input heavy. It would be time to discuss this topic which people might come along and abuse to get free top times.

So I thought I would see if everyone here so far would like to ban macros to keep the competition honest and fair whilst also appreciating how good top runners are and giving new runners something to work towards to make sure the run doesn't get stale to quickly for people that pick it up.

I feel like if macros are allowed the run would be less impressive and overall the life span for the game would end up being much shorter.

I am for banning macros but I think remapping controls should be allowed as the dev for the game has mentioned he would work on custom controls in the future.

I will leave this forum open for a while to see what everyone thinks and after a decision has been reached this forum will be locked.

For the REVISITOR page I moderate I can't get the page to prioritize IGT over Real Time. I have checked all the stuff to make sure it is right but it just won't flip the time columns. Not sure what I have missed

Sometimes a level won't load properly and the timer will reset to zero randomly. I will change the rules for IL runs since it works fine for a single level but there is a chance for full runs the timer resets.

I will update IL rules but not full game rules since it still has some inconsistencies.

There is an update for Revisitor coming that will include it's own in game timer for both full runs and IL's. This means that the rules we currently have will be re-done and current full game runs will have to be taken down due to a change with mission 12. Blink is no longer available on that map and that means we can no longer use the early exit glitch, essentially mission 12 will be done glitchless from now on and therefore leaving runs on the leaderboard with the glitched method wouldn't be very fair.

So there are a few drawbacks but the in game timer being provided will be much more accurate for leaderboards as it will count milliseconds AND it doesn't count load times or level selection screen time. We will now be able to separate the real time from game time all while having a more accurate timing method for full game runs and can even do IL runs that will be timed down to the frame to avoid any tied IL records.

These changes aren't happening straight away however since, at the time of posting this there are still some bugs and issues with the timer in the current patch. As soon as the in game timer works 100% we will change the rules and get rid of any existing Full game runs on the leaderboard.

I know it is a tedious process and I can't really do it well, would appreciate if someone could set one up for me to share with some people! I would literally pay someone money to do it rather than do it myself lol. It is for a simple game I don't know if that helps?

I plan on doing a crowbar only run and found out the inventory glitch that is used for the shotgun in the any% can be done with the crowbar with different advantages and disadvantages.

So instead on opening up inventory as you attack (like with the shotgun) you have to time it so you open up inventory as the attack hits, this gives you 2 crowbar hits with one swing, this comes with a downside though. It seems that doing this method doesn't stagger enemies for as long so you are more likely to get hit after closing your inventory regardless of whether you spam dodge or move away as soon as you can, however there is a way around this. If you equip the lighter then equip the crowbar it will cancel the final part of the swing animation while still dealing the double hit.

So the method for dealing with enemies I have been using is.

  • bait and dodge an attack
  • swing the crowbar and open inventory as the attack hits
  • equip lighter then equip crowbar
  • close inventory run away (you will probably dodge an attack in the process)

Is seems like it isn't worth it at first, but if you get used to it and do this method quickly I have found it makes the few fights you have to do much quicker especially since the crowbar has a low chance to knock enemies down, so being able to hit twice in one swing gives you a slightly better chance of getting that knockdown and then you can get way more damage off making fights even shorter once again.

Just thought I would share this if anyone is interested :)

I will give it another go, hopefully it works because having 2 different methods with different results wouldn't be ideal.

I remember with this way the first few cutscenes would skip but then I would get the skip prompt for some but they wouldn't skip, it was strange

I did try that at first because it made more sense to do so but it didn't work, well for me at least. There is a chance I did something wrong but I did give it a rough double check before I came across the alternative.

Maybe you could give it a go and see if I did something wrong? :)

If you can get it to work that way it would definitely be more stable I agree. Even though I have done a fair few runs now without a crash, there are a few scenes where dialogue won't play for 1 or 2 lines and I understand that it could be an issue for verification and such.
