So, I got New Leaf only back in September as a birthday treat, and this is the only Animal Crossing game I ever played. As such I've only been playing casually, but I think I've learned quickly, grown as a player over this time and I made the Perfect Town status on Toy Day.
It is for this reason why I'm considering the Golden Watering Can run even this early as a Crossing player. But at the same time I'd like to be able to keep my casual file around as well as another file to do the run with. As such I went out and bought some SanDisk Extreme PLUS SDHC UHS-I cards under advice from an assistant at the local PC World. Does anyone know if these are OK to use?
As a disclaimer I'm just going to straight up say this; I have casually played this game on the GC for quite a while now, but I'm probably nowhere near good enough to speedrun this game properly. I think I'm good, but nowhere near that good. That being said I am interested in trying and will practice.
But I was also toying with the thought, what if there was a no L/Z Target category? This would put a lot of restrictions on what the player can do, effectively making it almost a true glitchless category unto itself. No back walking, no backflips or side jumping, not even jump attacks. This will put a lot of restrictions on by itself as tons of tricks are L/Z Target heavy, and will likely not be everyone's cup of tea, but what do you guys think?
Has anyone here got any funny, crazy or any other stories involving good/bad/just plain loopy RNG?
I just started running Resident Evil REmake on the GC after watching a few, and was pretty lucky with the first mansion segment. The zombie spawns were quite merciful and even when I took a couple bites I dodged well, the Elder Crimson Head lunged immediately and happy days. I got past the dogs nicely at the courtyard...then got wrecked by the big shark guarding the Gallery Key.
Also Aragog is pretty annoying at times in Chamber of Secrets.
I was just looking into the categories and noticed that Pure Hero and Pure Dark runs only take the final stage into account; GUN Fortress for the Pure Dark category and Final Haunt for Pure Hero. Apart from that, you can go for whatever path and whatever boss.
With that being said though, how about a proposal for what I like to call True categories? By this I mean, with the Dark run you have to complete all the Dark missions, all Hero missions for the Hero run, and then there's the Neutral one. All Neutral missions is probably the norm here as the goal is always at the Goal Ring, so to make things a little more interesting for the Neutral run, maybe make sure Dark and Hero points are equal, or even no Dark or Hero points at all?
I went and bought some SD cards to save my Animal Crossing: New Leaf data that I wanted to keep for playing casually, so I can attempt some speedruns later. Should I have just waited until another copy of New Leaf showed up?
Has anyone ever tried using different starters to the norm in Pokemon speedruns? I know that there are staples such as Squirtle and Mudkip, but what about others that would spice things up? I'm just asking because I'm currently doing a mono Grass run of Gold and thought of maybe a run of Fire Red with Bulbasaur?
Hi everyone. :)
I've watched a couple videos of runs on YouTube before and thought of doing it myself from time to time. Thanks for letting me introduce myself, and may fortune be on your sides!
