possibly yeah, but chance to get a run where enemy never dodges, never jumps and every pattern is the fastest pattern is astronomical. So if it's even possible to get that kind of 10 minutes, it prolly takes years to get one.
GG. Yeah i think you are exactly 1 minute away from best time in theory. My Sum of best is 9:43 and Ukionik has 9:48, so i'd guess ~9:45 is what can be done without new findings. Theory TAS probably has low 3x if done today with better knowledge, but Theory TAS goes against RNG everywhere and manipulates best patterns that cannot be done in RTA so 3x is very unlikely to happen. I tracked current pace in live split last time i did runs and it was nearly impossible to keep the run below 9:50 pace more than couple levels.
I agree fully on how much doing these other meme categories improve any% as well in a long run.
Only when i routed Damageless and grinded the run out i learned consistent timings and positions for uppercuts to be able to execute it without enemy having chance to escape at all and some of those strats also got into any%.
Uppercut and cyclone kick are very overlooked in any% to replace knee in several areas and most of the time it's better to take a few tenths time loss and choose something else instead of spam a knee mindlessly and lose 10 seconds if things are out of your hand. During kneeless routing i found out that hitting cyclone kick consistency heavily rely on distance and timing and now i know how to use it against shadow bimmy, abobos or adores for example. Meme for the win!
cool run, but knee attack is cheating and no miss is where the real skill is
Now that Any% (and Credits warp) is a glitch fest as expected in a game like this, I propose that Any% (Warpless) becomes a main category for this game/page. This is decent side scrolling game and for new people who visit the page it's huge turn off to see weird pause glitch right away and then dropping out of bounds, only to OOB again 5 seconds later. Just like in SMB3 for example, categories that keep the game in mostly solid state are way more popular for competition.
Also if this becomes a thing i suggest adding milliseconds on board, since every frame counts and eventually several people will be within half a second of each other so it's better way to find out who is the fastest. Create a rule that all warpless sub2 minute runs requires milliseconds for example.
it's very cool what players, especially Cubby did for Any% since it shows how smart ideas can be applied to break the game, but enough is enough in my opinion and we need to fix the run.
Tell me what you think
Thanks Ovy. Just lucky fight that rarely happens. If i remember correctly this was only 3th time Marion stayed stunned whole fight. Usually she escapes several times and fight lasts 2-3 times longer. There is 4.2 seconds long global timer going on constantly that determines what Marion does, and as far as i know if you are lucky she is stunned during frames where global timer is telling her to go snake and she will try to use other attacks instead between punches. So far there is no way to manipulate it, so just hit and hope for the best
Clip1) Consistent boss2 quick kill
Clip2) Alternative boss3 quick kill, bit faster than going behind him right away. Requires set pattern from correct starting frame
Clip3) Consistent boss5 quick kill, nothing new. Requires set pattern from correct starting frame
Clip4) Manipulation of fly enemy for damage boost. Full jump couple frames after gaining control and he will land toward you for boost.
Clip5) Alternative stage6 up to laser guy capture. ~0.8 seconds faster than old route, but has similar ghost RNG than stage2 that can kill the run.
Hello. I would like to suggest exact frame count timing rules for this game.
-
starting frame should be the first frame of black screen after pressing start. There is only 1 timed frame on "music on" screen before screen turn black and it's much better indicator to start the frame count from that black screen instead of last frame of title screen.
-
Ending frame is the first frame of fully black screen after defeating last boss.
few times i've gotten near new second barrier by few frames and every time it's been bit unclear where to start the frame count since there is no clear indicator when you press start. By doing what i suggest for exact time will not change when to start the timer but makes frame count easier
If it doesn't get added and you have a run done with classic. Just submit as NES emu and put platform in desc. NESclassic is just an emulator in covers
Because i suck, i tried to make the game cooperate to attempt the trick but i wasn't good enough to change the RNG that can't be controlled. I can only blame myself ☹️
