My run isn't actually segmented, just had OBS die mid run =P. Never saw any use in using a save mid game.
So, I've done some messing around with the TAS tool on FCEUX for this game trying to understand the RNG involved and if there are any ways to manipulate it to your advantage.
From my findings, I would say that it's pretty much impossible. In setting up the first boss (belt) for the optimal pattern, I found that the FRAME you take out the mob on the ladder before going into the vial room, will change how the boss acts.
The final boss seems to be even more random. Whether or not he stops and laughs (turns red and vulnerable) changes based on how you move and if you shoot a fruit. It seems that turning your back makes him stop more often, perhaps - it's extremely hard to tell.
In addition, drops/demon spawns seems to be based on a 6 frame or so window, and the game requires at least 2 frames between any actions.
I'm not sure if this translates to the Genesis version of the game or not. But if anyone who is more versed in HEX and understanding the works of games would take a look at this, that would be great.
Could be useful if you get a really trolly pattern from him. Sadly, wouldn't be much use for the NES run, as you never get there with enough HP. Also, I'm fairly sure the NES version has one less "set" of blocks - I'd have to check though. My NES route to sub 30 is going to be skipping the helm, sword and shield, without the safety of the Genesis HP value wrap. Pretty low success rate, but I don't think there is another 2:30 to save on the other route unless you get THE perfect run.
Would like to be added as a Mod to Spiritual Warfare (http://www.speedrun.com/Spiritual_Warfare). I asked the current mod (Dugongue) to add additional NES categories and never received a reply. Would like to add 100% and a couple of others. Thanks.
You don't need to deathwarp. E/c means End and Continue
Interesting, I remeber as a kid going back there aftet getting the sword cause i thought you could blow up the wall there (when in the spot with the 7 vials, you can see 3 gray block in the wall) and it was already open.

Nice find. Looks like you have everything. I've got a google sheet witha map on it as well and routing stuff. Nearly done then I'll share. I'll be making a page as well soon. I'd like to get a full overworld map of screen shots as well to show exact locations and to show routing.
Would be nice to find. So far there is no good way to farm the 820 SP needed for 100%.
You need to get the Sword for that secret to open up. And nice find, where did you get that shot of those screens? You can use the downtown key building to move right to the top of the building to the 2nd boss. That's a decent time save!
Also, I just reproduced this on the NES, so it is across all platforms.
Interesting to see how they put together the inside building sets. I'm not sure there are many other places with a door like that and someone to damage boost you through it, but nice find none the less.
4th is in the passage to the train in shipyard (5,C). On the train station side, go in, go down a screen and bomb the bottom left corner at the bottom of the ladder.
100% Rules
Must have the following at the defeat of the final boss:
All Armor (Belt, Breastplate, Boots, Helm, Sword, Shield) All Hearts (Park, Downtown, Houses, Airport, Warehouses, Hotels, Shipyard, Beach, Prison) All Fruits (3 Pears, 4 Apples, 4 Pomegranates, 4 Grapes, 4 Bananas) Torch Raft Sampson's Jawbone Train Ticket
Keys/Anointing Oil/Spirit Points/Vials of Wrath not required as these are consumable resources.
Could we get the following categories added for the NES version please?
All Armor
All Armor + All Hearts
100%
Thanks!
Could we get some ground rules for NES Any%, namely no Game Genie codes for everything/invulnerability?
