The utopia% is clearly the any% run of raft so it is cool that it's the first run you see on the page. I think there should be separate glitchless% run or no major glitches% for runs those include all the puzzles and stuff.
Also the formatting of the page made thinking of running the game unappealing to me. With better formatting I'd believe the runs would be more approachable. Imo Subnautica https://www.speedrun.com/subnautica#Early_Access_Runs handled it pretty well.
Also for about a year after completing the balboa update I didn't know of the existance of Raft speedruns because when you search Raft it shows all the Minecraft games. Idk though if there is any way of fixing that.
If the current Utopia category was "any%", duping would be allowed. It already is in a 'no major glitches' state. I have been considering a "no 3rd person" mode for individual levels, but to lock someone out of using 3rd person for an entire run feels unnecessary. We have a community on discord where we occasionally discuss if we think a bug is too "game breaking" or not. Duping and flying have been banned for some time, very few have ever asked for a full game without 3rd person category. I suppose if we get more people who want such a category, I could add it, but I don't currently see banning 3rd person exploits as a possibility. If you want to see story islands done properly, you can find those runs in the individual levels category. 100% is probably what you're looking for, but like I said, a no 3rd person mode could be added there, especially if someone starts running them before I add the category.
The formatting of the page is atrocious, I agree, but if you don't want to speedrun a game because of 'the formatting of a webpage' then you don't belong here anyways. 👋 I've seen other games use category extensions to make their game look cleaner, and I've applied to change the formatting of this game twice to allow category extensions and have been denied both times. I'm, as far as I'm aware, unable to make it much cleaner without deleting our history.
I'm also aware that Minecraft has flooded the speedrun database with "_____raft" games, but there is no way that I know of to change that. I assumed we would move up the list with more runners, but that hasn't happened, so idk.
& @Bound, I'm basically the only mod. and I've been running it based on community feedback in our Discord. If there's ever a controversial issue, we've more than likely already discussed it over there. This is a democracy, not a dictatorship. 👍
