I'm not speedruning the game, just curious. Is this an fps trick?

For example in The Reckoning mission pack, about 5 seconds in:

I's nothing special really, the game by default only checks the laser hits a few times a second (server framerate), so if you are fast enough you can space out your discrete position so much that you slip through the cracks.

I tried that few times, maybe I was not fast enough. Thanks.

It is much harder (if not impossible?) on the remaster in case you are playing on that, as the server framerate was increased on it.
