I timed 12 Tanker runs as well and while PS5 was consistent, Xbox produced an IGT that was 4 seconds lower than RTA every time.
dlimes mentioned that difference in loading times could be a factor. What are your thoughts?
I think this is unfair for console runners, especially those of us on PS5. Should there be a separate category for Xbox? Should we submit RTA instead?
As I stated previously, load variances are nothing new when it comes to Metal Gear speedrunning and speedrunning in general. This is exactly what filters that nobody cares to use should be used for if someone wants to compare against X or Y. Creating more and more categories just leads to more clutter and opens up a giant can of worms for other games. If we separate one platform, we'd have to separate all of them. PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, etc. is much slower. We don't separate those. It's not a large difference in my opinion that would warrant such a separation anyway. The only reason PC is separated from Console is PC uses a load remover. Otherwise, separating categories is opening up Pandora's box.
I have a thought, if I’m playing on PS5 and I did every strategy/glitches and running the game perfectly with no mistakes, and I would get a 10 second difference for us PS5 users is a massive difference. We are trying our hardest to compete with a console that gives out free time saves and to compete against that isn’t fair in my opinion.
Maybe RTA submission for consoles that don’t match the IGT ? PS5 doesn’t seem to have an IGT problem, only XBOX.
Separating PC & Console is understandable. But there’s like 8 consoles that’s submittable an would do more damage than good, filters are there for these reasons. Separating them all would be a cluster** an it water down the leaderboards imo by making them very sparse.
Petition to separate by console on VR missions.
In seriousness though, I think it's unnecessary inflation of the boards. Runners can compare times with other times on the same console already without needing a separate board. Like many other games, if you want the fastest times, you use the best hardware/version for the job.
After some testing, we can now start verifying runs played on the new Master Collection versions of this game. A forum page has been opened up so runners can discuss this further if it requires changing. See here: [
