According to TCRF article ( https://tcrf.net/Gitaroo_Man/Regional_Differences#Difficulty_Modes ) the difficulty mode in Options is named differently between JPN / NTSC and USA / NTSC. This run is taken in easier mode: "Easy" in JPN, "Normal" in USA.
PS2 Any% End Timing Rule Changed
Rule has changed to account for opening the disc tray when END appears for each song.
"Time starts on selecting Level 1.
Time ends on the thunder strike after beating Zowie OR when U-1's pose appears on screen after opening the disc tray.
Opening the disc tray to skip songs is allowed."
