Hi! I'm a new guy who does the 157% attempts, and I faced a problem today. The timer in the Rainbow minigame goes quite a bit ahead of the real time for some reason, and I don't think I had that issue before. During one of my attempts today, I finished this minigame at 3:38 I think (this was the time shown by the in-game timer) and the game still gave me Chipper, and I had to reset. What's weird is that the LiveSplit timer was showing 2:58 for this segment (I checked it later on the VOD), hence why I received Chipper, but still, that means the in-game timer went full 40 seconds ahead of the real time. I tried to reboot the game a few times, but it didn't work.
I recorded this video here where I finish the run at 3:08 and receive Chipper. You can see the numbers on the timer glitching and switching back and forth randomly and going too fast basically.
Has anyone ever had this issue before, or just knows how to fix this, by any chance?
The timer on CMR is completely fucking broken lmao. CMR runs are timed manually using an RTA timing method.
Ahhh so that's ok then :D I too came up with a solution of just measuring the time by the segment timer in LiveSplit lol, was just wondering if it's a valid way of doing that or not. Thx for the answer!
I faced another problem tho, and that one fucked me up big time once. Is the pearl counter in this game broken too? On 1 of my attempts I caught the 5th one after beating the Rainbow and stopped the run, thinking that I did everything properly, but when I engaged into a random battle on that save, the pearl wasn't there as a byte. I thought that I just lost count at some point, the run was longer than 2 hours and it could very well be a mistake on my part. On 1 of the next few attempts I managed to get all 5 before starting the grind. This time I was completely certain that I had all 5 (the amount of tokens I had also matched that, being slightly higher than 500 because I managed to get a few characters along the way. And also, after that I rewatched the VOD and counted all of the pearls that I caught. It was indeed 5.), but... You guessed it right, the pearl wasn't there again. After that I also checked the save file, and it actually showed that I only had 4 pearls in the bag. Is this just yet another unfunny prank from the game? :D
I have no idea how pearls work, it should give you it after 5 but sometimes it doesn't and I never understood the reason why
Ahhhh ok.. I have a last question then. Will my run be accepted and listed in the leaderboard if I catch all 5 pearls needed, but the byte isn't there? Or having it as a byte is crucial and my run will be considered invalid because of that?
the pearl is a little whack, just keep doing the fishing until the game gives it to you, unfortunately it can just fuck you over sometimes
