Is there something that you're supposed to do to convince the dragon to land? I just did a run where the dragon just kept flying back and forth for over four minutes.

Update: it seems like the dragon will not shoot if you are hiding on the stairs near the door. Just wait until you stop hearing the flapping sound.

Hey what's up man. I'm the other runner on this game. From my experience, its random chance after he shoots a fireball at you. Then he picks a random direction to go and you have to wait until he gets near the landing point.

Yeah, so after a random amount of time is shoots a fireball, and then switches directions. Once it passes the crumbled side of the tower it will land. The problem is if you get some bad luck, it will fly over to the opposite side and then just go back and forth for several minutes, which effectively scraps whatever run you were doing. You'll notice in my record I got lucky it fired, turned around, and landed immediately.
