Ok folks, here is the official update on the speedrun embargo, some may call it The Largo Embargo. Many Monkey Island fans have eagerly awaited the release of Return to Monkey Island, however not everyone is going to be playing through the game at the same pace. It is always an exciting time when a new speedgame comes out and RTMI will be no exception. We anticipate there being a large number (for a point and click game) or speedrunners, both old and new, who will be trying their hand out on the speedrun(s). However we want to give all the adventure game fans out there ample time to play through the game at their own pace. Feel free to enjoy the game and not feel pressured to rush through to join in on all the speedrun action.

The embargo will be lifted at 9:00AM PDT/12:00PM EDT/5:00PM BST on Monday, October the 3rd. This gives you 2 full weeks from the release of the game before the leaderboard opens up for submissions. Currently looking like we will have categories for both Casual and Hard Mode.

HOWEVER, for any interested parties that just can't help themselves and are already chomping at the bit to get started on the speedrun. Over in the Speedy Adventures Discord, we are going to be doing a Return to Monkey Island Challenge. The challenge is to come up with your best route/run based on your own findings. This means no watching other people runs, no discussing the route/run with other people, etc. You are on the honor system for this. There are NO PRIZES, only bragging rights. This is just something to do if you want to for fun. To submit your run come on over to the Speedy Adventures Discord Server, and send me(frozenspade) a DM with a link to your run. When the embargo is lifted, we will stream on the Speedy Adventures Twitch Channel and look at some of the fastest submissions and discuss the strategies everyone has found.
