[GUIDE] any % speedrun (under construction, last update 12/06/19)

Here's some useful tips you should know for speedrun this game.

1.- Golden armor allows you to damage boost through EVERYTHING in the game without taking significant damage which is really a time saver. (See item guide for more information)

2.- The skull attack (see  item guide for more information), the skull item changes its way of attacking depending of the armor you're waring. 
-With no armor skull Rohan stomps the ground with his cane, killing all enemies.
-With the silver armor, same as without, but more powerful.
-With the gold armor Rohan throws his cane upwards, releasing an earthquake when it hits the ground, this attack will hit everything on screen during the animation and it lasts 5 seconds, its a GREAT boss killer, but you probably use it only on Cephus and its highly recommended to use it on Draxos, since it kills all enemies draxos spawns during the cast.

3.- Leveled weapons go trhough enemies, when you pick the same weapon you already have, you upgrade hit. Usually the projectile hits one enemie and disappears, with a level 2 weapon, it can hit 2 enemies (or 2 times if its a boss),and so on. (See item guide for more information)

4.- If you fall off a hole when killing a boss or releasing the very last monk of a stage it actually triggers the end of the stage, skipping the death animation of the boss, or the release of the last monk; saving a lot of time.

*** OUTDATED*** (EDIT 12/06/19) Current strat for any% doesnt involve getting armor anymore, and you only need one skull for second boss.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE (WR Actual strats)
IMPORTANT NOTE: timer begins when you press start game at the title screen, timer ends when screen fades to black after you defeat draxos.

Stage 1: straight level, there's no fake/bad monk statues here, you can find one skull in chests and, if lucky, more than one orange ball which will save you a lot of time. You get your first knife upgrade on the first gargoyle.

Stage 2: you'll find some fake/bad monk statues here, but nothing should trouble you here, keep and eye on those pumpkin like monsters and careful with flying enemies on jumping sections. You should be able to find 2 knife/dagger upgrades on this level on the first and last gargoyles, so dont worry if you lose one powerup here.

Stage 3: Boss time!! Zabros is pretty easy, 3rd level dagger just melts him, try to push him as far as you can to drop down when you kill him, so stage ends faster and you skip his death animation.

ITEMS (i still dont know all of their uses)
All of them can be obtained through chests, but some of them also are rare enemy drops.
Backwards: (looks like this <<<<) this item can give you points or send you back trough the stage (never go for it)
Apple: can give you points or make you fall asleep during 40s IGT, you will recover 5HP while sleeping.
Hourglass: gives you 1 minute IGT (not recommended on speedruns because it wastes time on the stage clear screen)
Orange ball: this item acts as a companion, killng all enemies surrounding you, lasts 30 seconds IGT (very good item)
Star: gives you points.
Cross: gives you points.
Skull: steals 6HP from you, then gives 1 skull weapon (always go for them)
Cherry: heals you 3HP.
Bolt: invencibility, lasts 15s IGT (one of the best items)
Coke: gives you points.
Mini-Rohan: 1UP.
Black jewel: gives you points.
Red potion: heals 6HP.
Ring: gives you points.
Money balloon: drops 5 coins at the same time.
Money bag: dops 10 coins one after another.

Gargoyle items: exclusive items droppped only by gargoyles upon defeat.
Golden pouch: heals you 6HP

NOTE: i dont know if chest drops are RNG based or time based, im still testing.

WEAPONS
Dagger: shoots straight, fast speed. Your initial weapon.
Axe: swings upwars in arc shape, nice for flying enemies.
Fire circle: slow fire magic, shoots straight, slow speed.
Double spike ball: shoots straight, medium speed.
Boomerang: flies straight half screen then goes all the way back until disappear. (its difficult sometimes to hit with the boomerang because projectiles fly highter than any other weapon)
Skull: (special item only found in chests) the skull item changes its way of attacking depending of the armor you're waring.

Note: i will assume that every weapon does 1 damage, you can upgrade them if you pick the same weapon you're already using. If you lose a life having an upgraded weapon, you'll lose one upgrade level. Max level is 3.
Level 2 weapons, can hit up to 2 times per shot.
Level 3 weapons can hit up to 3 times per shot.

ARMORS
You need to collect coins in order to get the armor upgrades if you get hit you lose one coin, which is recoverable, if you fall into a pit, you lose 15 coins.
Monk tunic: initial Rohan equipment, 0% defense, anything can hurt Rohan, doing 1HP damage.
Silver armor: 33 coins or more, 50% defense and skull attack upgraded.
Golden armor: 66 coins or more, >90% defense, almost invulnerable, skull attack even more powerful.

STATUES
To progress through the game you have to set the monks free, but on almost every stage you'll run into evil monk statues which hurt you if you break them, ill leave a list here of which ones are evil or not, in order of appearance.

Stage 1: no evil statues.
Stage 2: good, evil, evil good.
Stage 4: evil, good, evil, good.
Stage 5: evil, good, evil, good, evil, good.
Stage 7: evil, good, good, good.
Stage 8: evil, good, good, evil, good.
Stage 10: evil, good, good, good.
Stage 11: good, evil, evil, good.

NOTE: every last statue is always a good one and it's always next to the goal.
