Recoil Speedrun Any%:

[big]Level 1:[/big] Collect ERFPG ammo for the rest of the game during this mission since enemies are weak. (How much is necessary exactly?) Grab the nano-canister in the crane and the one in the wall just before the gate power supply. Open the gate; go to the gas station, skipping the turrets. Shoot the pillar that’s away from the wall to create a ramp. Use the ramp, proceed through the tunnel and destroy all the towers in a circular motion. Pick up the Nanite-100 located just before the first tower and the Nanite-100 next to the last tower to avoid losing any lives. Use a mortar for the main tower. Skip the flamethrowers and turrets, when you get to the beach go straight to the first two rockets, trigger them both first and then destroy them. (If needed, pick up the nano-canister in the first rocket silo.) After destroying the last rocket silo, destroy the gate to the mission end to trigger the VTOL spawn, and then get the nano-canister behind the shed as well as the lock on missiles behind the fake wall. Then head to the mission end. Time to aim for is 4:30 (plus ammo collection)

[big]Level 2:[/big] If needed grab the Nanite 100 right of the first bridge. Destroy the gate from far away to be able to rush past all the enemies. Destroy the cruise missile turrets for safety? Enter the facility and turn right. Destroy the lock on launchers with the lock on missiles; be sure to pick up the ammo drops. Pick up the amphibian upgrade by driving through the window (from behind, where the switch is). Pick up the nano-canister in the wall (right door on the right side). Go out the same way you came in. Go right past the gate to the left waterway. Enter the tunnel immediately to your left in the water. At the end grab the nano-canister on the left then go to the right. Exit the water as soon as possible, (destroy the silo on the right for 2 lock on missiles?). Destroy the door to the steel processor while you pass it. Destroy the sewage pipe when you pass it so it’s filled when you get back. Destroy the gate from as far away as possible, destroy the power plant. Go to the steel processor; take out the enemies for safety (which are needed?). Destroy the steel processor. Don’t go to the other side to avoid having to circle back around the lava. Be sure to hit the switch for the helipad bridge in the steel processor. Hit the switch at the helipad. Now sweep around the steel processor and destroy the silos for their pickups while waiting for the VTOL. Don’t bother destroying the turrets.

[big]Level 3:[/big] Destroy the turret up top while driving past the other enemies. Pick up the Nanite 100 while avoiding the lock on launchers. Rush past everyone again and cross the bridge. At the end of the tunnel, pick up the Nanite 100. (Pick up the ERFPG ammo?) Keep to the right wall and go past the enemies. Pick up the Nanite 100 on the way. Keep following the right wall, then grab the Nanite 100 near the left wall and keep to the left wall. Enter the tunnel and destroy the first pump. Don’t worry about the enemies. Circle left around the crater, picking up the Nanite 100 and the ERFPG ammo on the way. Destroy the second pump then cross the newly formed bridge. Follow the path left (pick up the Nanite 100 on the way?) and enter the hovercraft facility, skipping all enemies. Rush through the facility, pick up the hovercraft upgrade. Exit the hovercraft facility, pick up the laser sabre ammo and go on your way to the volcano. Circle the volcano backwards to shoot and destroy the lock on missiles. (Take the nano-canister for safety). Go to the land north of the volcano, switch to land mode, keep to the right wall and pick up the Nanite 100. Snipe the entrance, so you can immediately cross it when you approach. Rush past all the enemies; pick up the laser sabre ammo on the way. Hit the switch on top then destroy the lock-on missile launcher (or just destroy the missiles?). Rush to the elevator, hit its switch and enter it. Hit the switch inside to activate it. Destroy the core by shooting it (do you need to destroy the cranes as well?), the shoot the gate to the helipad to open it and hide inside until the VTOL arrives.

[big]Level 4:[/big] (If necessary: Destroy the two pillars keeping the track up, enter the cave underneath the waterfall and pick up the Nanite 100, ERFPG ammo and nano-canister.) Follow the normal path; destroy some turrets at the church while passing it on the right. Destroy the flood gates, and then destroy the train bridge. Try avoiding damage until the water has risen. (Pick up the nano-canister next to the train bridge?). Destroy the control panels on the church, head to the chemical plant. Destroy it by? (the thing on the far end?). Get the nano-canister in one of the buildings at the train track. Follow the train track left to the station. Get off the track there and take the closest path out. Destroy the Recoil poster and the switch behind it. Enter, pick up the Nanite 100 and destroy the control panel to expose the target. Leave the station and snipe the weapon from the house left of the alley in front of the station exit. Go to the house on the opposite side of the plaza from the station exit and get the nano-canister. Go to the house behind the one you hid in (seen from current position) and pick up that nano-canister as well. Then rush to the VTOL for pickup.

[big]Level 5:[/big] Grab the ERFPG ammo in the center then grab the Nanite 100 and the ERFPG ammo next to the wall. Enter the tunnel. Grab the ERFPG ammo and Nanite 100 from the boxes. Take the west path to the target; pick up the nano-canister, Nanite 100 and ERFPG ammo on the way. After destroying the target, hit the door switch deeper in the cave. Take the east path to the submarine tech; pick up the Nanite 100 on the way. Enter the elevator and hit the switch. Rush to the sub tech and hit the switch. Immediately dive down and proceed through the tunnel. As soon as possible go to the surface, get out of the water, and grab the nano-canister. Head towards the target, grab the Nanite 100 before going into the water. Destroy the target by shooting the caps on the three anchors and placing a remote mine in each one. Blow it up, and then grab the Nanite 100 next to the target. Go through the newly formed tunnel, destroy the two targets under water, then destroy the two target above water, go back underwater to the now open tunnel , destroy all four targets in that room. Go back above water and head to the helipad, staying inside until the VTOL arrives.

[big]Level 6:[/big] From your starting position, enter to the building to the left in the corner of the map. Grab the Nanite 100 and jump to the next building (full speed from the corner then let go in air to slow down) for the nano-canister. Drop down and grab the ERFPG ammo. Go to the left from where you dropped and grab the Nanite 100 and turn right to pick up the ERFPG ammo. Continue in that direction, turning left as soon as you can, pick up the nano-canister. Follow that road to the crater. When you get there shoot the two red targets on the building to open the gate. Grab a Nanite 100 near the crater if necessary, and grab the ERFPG ammo near the gate. Enter the gate, into the elevator and shoot the switch. When you exit the elevator grab the ERFPG ammo from both sides. Head to the right, grab the ERFPG ammo and shoot the switch to lower the platform. Enter the teleport to go to the volcano area. Behind you is a nano-canister, further ahead outside two ERFPG ammo pickups. Once inside going around left there are: missile ammo, laser ammo, the exit, nano-canister, nano-canister. Destroy the boss by simply shooting it (?), the laser did the trick. Once you exit through the teleport, turn around immediately and go through the next teleport. You end up in the normal area again, head forward and go left, pick up the Nanite 100, ERFPG ammo and nano-canister. Pick up the other Nanite 100 (after lowering the platform (?)). Head to the ruins teleport. In the first building on the left is a nano-canister; in rightmost building is a Nanite 100. There is ERFPG ammo in the middle building and next to the center back building. In the last building on the left is another nano-canister. Next to the gate is also a nano-canister. Shoot the red bit on top of the gate to open it. To destroy the boss, you have to hit it from the back. To do this jump onto the very middle so you are immediately underneath the boss. Then you can just hit the boss by aiming up as far as possible. There’s a nano-canister in the exit. Once you exit through the teleport, turn around immediately and go through the next teleport. Once again you end in the normal area. Drop down from the platform you’re on, into the water and dive down. Follow the tunnel until exit the water. After you’ve exited the water, there are two nano-canisters in the middle of the hallways. Another nano-canister is located on the platform which you lower to go to the teleport. After the teleport, grab the ERFPG ammo on the left while heading to the tunnels (not the one on the left). Go through the hole in the tunnels to the boss. There is a nano-canister in the boss area. For the boss, you need to destroy each of the three rings on it by making the lasers that circle it all hit the same ring at once. Hit the top to lower a laser, hit the bottom to raise it. Exit the area through the path to the teleport underneath the boss. You will end up at the end boss. This time don’t exit immediately. There are two nano-canisters in the recesses on the side. Destroy the blocks on the boss to destroy it.

[big]Ideas: [/big] ¤ Is destroying the power plant with mortars the best option? ¤ Lock on missiles take out the lock on launchers in one hit. Use the cruise missiles to take care of the lock on launchers in the amphibian facility. Not 1HKO. Would it be viable to rush past them (possibly taking them out while waiting for the technology to unlock)? ¤ Is it worth it to grab the lock on missile in the crate in the amphibian facility? ¤ Is the second nano-canister in the tunnel worth backtracking for? ¤ There’s a base with the Molecular Distortion Upgrade + Lock on Missile + Nano-Canister in level 2. ¤ How far from the power plant do you need to be when it explodes? ¤ What weapon is best for destroying the steel processor? (ERFPG or missiles or something else?) ¤ At the start of level 3, jump off the bridge and pick up the nano-canister and nanite-100. Costs a bit of time (and health, how much?) though. ¤ Switch to tracked mode on land since it’s faster than the hover mode (not needed if the hovertank glitch works). ¤ Is it possible to follow the train track without destroying the bridge (and thus the train)? If it is following the train track right would be possible and faster, as well as enabling picking up the Nanite 100 next to the bridge. ¤ What special weapons are worth getting? ¤ Instead of picking up (both) Nanite-100 in level 1, destroy some enemies along the way, a lot of which drop Nanite-20.

[big]Hints:[/big] Q: How do I destroy the red power generator in mission 1? A: Each time you shoot either the left or right column of the power generator a red disk travels across; shooting the red disk destroys the power generator. It is easiest to destroy by targeting the point where the disk emerges.

¤ Crates can be destroyed by driving over them with just your tank tread. ¤ Destroy the buoys with a single shot. ¤ You can destroy missiles/mortars easily with the laser sabre. Using other weapons is also possible but more difficult ¤ Most enemies (non-hover) can’t survive lava. ¤ Destroy enemies if they’re on your path for ammo drops/health (what they drop is fixed). Needs further fine-tuning. ¤ You start every level with full health (but lives carry over from previous level!) ¤ The VTOL is triggered when all objectives are completed and the path to the landing platform is open. (It is not range based nor affected by enemies.)

[big]Glitches:[/big]

Hovertank This is a useful glitch to use for traveling. Before you enter the VTOL, turn into a Hovertank . When you exit the VTOL on the next level, you will look like a normal land tank, but you will act like a Hovertank. You will be slightly faster than the normal Hovertank, but will still have the hovering ability.

Faster finish When the VTOL is landing, park underneath to automatically teleport in when it opens.

[big]Stuff:[/big] Mysterious area When the VTOL lands you in Campaign 6, move forward to get out of the VTOL. For example, if you are facing north, get down from the building and turn east. Go to the nearest road and keep going until you are a bit away from the wall/fence. Shoot a Tether-Guided missile over the fence and pitch it down. On your left you should see garages with ammunition in them and a road to this Mysterious area. When you go to search the road there is nothing; however stay there. Then, go back west until you come in front of the building. Face north again and keep going to the other side of the city (watch out for enemies). When you arrive, turn west and shoot a Tether-Guided missile to the west. Again, keep guiding until you go over the fence you should see two enemies to your right or in front of you.

Tether-guided missile and nukes Note: This trick requires a tether-guided missile or nuke. Just before the end of any level when you get picked up, go to the VTOL and wait for it to land. Turn around, arm the tether-guided weapon, and go backwards into the VTOL. Just before you actually enter the VTOL, launch the tether-guided weapon. If done correctly the screen will turn green and black. It will not crash the game and you will continue to the next screen as normal.

Foundry Hint In the last mission of the second campaign it says 'if you hit the bridge switch in the foundry you'll be able to cross over to the pick-up area. It is pretty hard to find! A t the top at the point where you attack, there is a part you can't cross over to. Go to the bottom of that. You should see a switch. Attack it! Then, feel free to destroy the core!
