I personally would not play NES games with analog sticks simply because that's not how OG hardware was designed around the controller. Just because you may choose to be an emulator runner (such as myself), it does not mean you get complete freedom to do how you please simply because you're on emulator. Imagine re-binding buttons for NES Metroid so select mashing becomes easier.
It should be as close to OG hardware as possible if you ask me.
Look, when it comes to these things: Just let things happen naturally.
"Speedrunning looks fun, I wanna try it"
runs first game
"I've had my taste, I need moar!!!"
speedruns every game known to man
There's no real value in talking hypotheticals, best way to go about it is just to jump in headfirst and get your hands dirty.
Relationships are the worst for a speedrunner, break up right away! Unless co-op speedruns are on the table, then marriage could be a thing.
Hate the new colors for the site, give me the option to change it back to what it was please!
Arguably, the only good game released for PS4 was Horizon Zero Dawn.
I say speedrunning is a community effort and if new tech is discovered, it should be shared and explained. It boils down to who you are as a person.
just verified https://www.speedrun.com/power_blade/run/zpljgvgm and the new run doesn't pop up on the leaderboard. Just me or is something fishy going on?
Always submit your runs and always leave them up even after you retire from speedrunning. The communites for the games you run will always be happy getting runs and having them up for people to learn from.
I'm all for everything OG poster suggests.
snes9x 1.53 and above is pretty universally accepted for one, I recommend reaching out to more well established snes communities if mods are unaware of the current general standard.
Technically there's story in Metal Gear, God of War, Devil May Cry, Silent Hill, Resident Evil... We're supposed to stop running those too? Come on ffs...
Edit: What about the Ninja Gaiden NES games, they have cutscenes you know........
