Hey mods, would you mind adding Switch to the list of consoles, please and thank you?
Bet we'll be seeing a lot of new runs!
With the DOS version of this game available at the Internet Archive, would it be possible to add it as a category to this game? This would be consistent with Mario's Time Machine, where the DOS and SNES versions are separate categories on the same game listing.
There's a Discord if you want to learn the game and what makes it tick. Stop by discord.gg/kCdy2c9zFv
The issue with 0-5, by the way, is the extreme RNG dependency on the first couple of levels. Plus the amount of work we already put the mods through. That's also why a lot of top runners don't bother with the IL boards unless we hit a really sweet level or one we know will be a WR. It's just...a lot of work for everybody involved. Then again, I'm not a mod, and maybe they think it's an awesome idea. Who knows?
Not a mod, so I can't speak to that, but you can press A+B+start+select to reset at any point. It's what I use when the run dies.
So, I've had a chance to play around with the game some, and I have a couple of suggestions for the categories. The first is that, based on our two videos, I think maybe there's sufficient difference between catch and ricochet to make them separate categories. The playstyles and strats will be completely different when both are optimized.
The second thing has to do with the arcade version. It's...extremely difficult. Five boards may be too much of an ask for most players. Two, maybe three, would be a little more manageable, and there could even be a case for making it just one (or making a separate one-board category). If you'd like, I can upload some gameplay video to showcase the difficulty level.
Anyway, just suggestions. No worries if you disagree, just glad to play around with this very interesting game!
Would it be possible to add the Activision plug n play from Toymax into the console list? This version emulates the Atari 2600 version.
I see virtually every version of this game as an option except the paddle-style Plug n Play from Jakks Pacific. Would this be acceptable for both the Atari 2600 and arcade versions? (It has both.)
There's nothing in the rules, but would topping out during a run prevent it from being admissible? I topped out early on a 20 with plenty of time left to get the PB.
Thanks!
As I recall, hold B after spitting to run, and possible select to skip end scenes. I'll try to remember to check this afternoon to confirm.
I have the Jakks Pacific plug-and-play with the Activision titles. Would that be an acceptable version as well?
Believe it or not, I use a RockCandy Xbox360 controller, and it's not terrible. I get a few wacky inputs every now and again, but it actually plays better than my wired Switch controller playing Tetris 99.
