As to what I was saying earlier, less time passes in Michaels timer than the ingame timer. I understand that Appel's timer is far from perfect, but if its used for level runs I don't see why it should be used for FG%. (as in added up with load times) If we really wanted to time our runs perfectly we would use an out of game timer for every category.
At this point getting the world record means getting extremely lucky with your timer. That isn't something thats fair or beneficial for the community.
I definitely agree that load times are needed for a perfect run. Only, they aren't really a measure of skill rather than how good your computer or autoclicker is.
Sorry, I forgot clipchamp removed shared videos.
This is another piece of evidence I found: Although the timer matches the ingame timer at 18.9, it's 0.2 behind by level 2. From the beginning to the end of level 2, Michael's timer takes 27.02, while the ingame timer is obviously not that.
Similarly, level 9 takes about 15.5 seconds. The amount of time passed in Michaels timer is 15.2 seconds. There is a slight discrepancy here...
Interpret it as you want, but after level 1 the two timers don't match.
I can't say I wasn't expecting this... because I was. :) It still hurts to see my strategy get used against me, but that's just my selfish me saying I need to beat this run. It's really flawless; the only suggestions I have is jumping in the hole for level 4 would've saved 2 tenths of a second. Other than that... I have a strategy for level 6 that'll help me beat 31.4 pretty easily, but I won't disclose that unless you really want to know and promise not to use it :)
If you actually improve your run it's fine, I'll tell you.
For now, I'll be grinding. At this point a small mistake means a full restart. I'm really impressed by how far FG% has come and how good this run is. You can definitely get some crazy level times based on the level runs in this FG% run. :)
If I get a run, it'll likely beat michael's. The only thing I'm worried about is severe lag; I'll be behind a few tenths of a second because of that...
Also nice purple mouse :)
Watching runs like these always paralize me.
Thanks! But I'm pretty sad you're leaving. Everyone does at some point... (Including me; although I would still verify runs)
Curator? You mean moderator, right?
First of all, Appel Awakening is not rapidly expanding. Of those 12 runs in one day, 9 are mine. Two mods (Unless something crazy happens) are having no trouble.
Second of all, It doesn't matter if you've cheated or not.
There isn't really a reason for you to be a mod. If people start submitting runs like crazy, then I'll consider it. But for now, the answer is no. Sorry. :(
I think there was a forum about this a while ago. The community decided on "All Checkpoints". Does that fit your ideas? Any of the spike-edges or sidejumping skips are eliminated, as far as I can remember.
I understand your point, but there are a few things you can do to prove you didn't cheat. For level 2, if you're able to record yourself and prove that this run would be possible, it'll be more likely to be accepted. In the instance that you beat level 5, this wouldn't work because it's extremely inconsistent.
Speedrunners have beaten TASes, and yet their runs weren't rejected. Like @Sir_Farcelot said, as long as your movements aren't too weird you'll be fine. For the Level 5 skip, nobody will be as precise as the TAS. Good luck @undeterminstic!
I have nostalgia for when I started speedrunning... as long as you have the patience and determination, you'll do fantastically!
Even if there was a way to encrypt replays, anything you change to the system can be edited by another scratcher. For example if someone made a mod that added a few L's and J's to your replay to identify it as a TAS, someone just just as easily find the code and reverse the mod.
For L5 and L17 the scenario is similar, the difficulty change is reversed.
I don't count reaching the endflag with the cheese as beating the level. Earlier when I mentioned @Sir_Farcelot's clear, I should've clarified that I was refering to the skip.
Just so you know I don't have my replay saved. It's the sort of thing that isn't worth anything and isn't hard.
... If you change the controls, won't pressing "z" pause in your mod, but jump in Appel v1.4? I may be wrong on how replays work.
I meant that your changed controls mod replay won't work in appel v1.4. Ultimately if the mods are fine with it, I'm fine with it.
