Removing the A at the end of the url will make it link to the home page of the wiki. Right now it links to an empty page on the wiki.
Emulators aren't at all standardized amongst this website. Yoshi's island bans Bizhawk whereas Mario World doesn't, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out bans front ends like retroarch whereas Zelda 1 doesn't, Mario Kart Wii bans all emulation whereas Punch-Out Wii doesn't, ect. So a rule page explicitly stating which emulators are allowed is expected for pretty much every game.
To address the problem with the 30th anniversary edition you could just copy what the moderators of 3rd Strike did. They only allow WolfMame and Retroarch with FBA Core, since they where both proven to be arcade perfect for third strike, while also explicitly banning mame emulators shown to be inaccurate, such as Fightcade. Then they made a separate category for 30th anniversary edition since it is an official release while also being inaccurate (just like the SNES version). If you absolutely must have the 30th Anniversary edition be in the same category as arcade at least have that be stated in the rules under arcade or have the category be called "Arcade/30th Anniversary" so that newcomers will know where to submit their runs.
Currently the rules don't state anywhere that 30th Anniversary Collection runs are supposed to be submitted under the arcade category. The rules are also unclear on emulation. The rules state "Official release only" which would imply emulation is banned, which isn't the case, and you have to dig through the forms to get answers regarding which SNES emulators are allowed. I can't even find anything about which Genesis emulators are allowed.
This would be more likely to get a reply if you posted this under the specific game the category is for.
EDIT: I am no longer a moderator of this game, so direct any questions to someone on current moderation staff.
I'm not sure if this game has no runners just because of the game's lack of popularity or if it has anything to do with the board itself. If you find the latter to be the case I'm happy to discuss whatever you want changed.
Makes sense. We don’t want just a board of mostly empty running categories.
Going strictly off the websites “amount of followers” statistic, it appears Shovel Knight is about half as popular as Super Mario World is.
what if there was a category extension page, like how there is for Super Mario World.
I vote for no resets, any order, and final split on seeing the YCG’s logo.
My justification for these is 1. I play on 3DS and would definitely prefer to not have to reset the game with the finicky menu switching for the 3DS. 2. I see literally no reason to restrict it other than maybe viewer convenience, which, since this will be a multiple hour long run, isn’t really a priority. 3. I see a very good argument for both “on final hit” and “at the YCG logo appearing” but I think it would be slightly more runner friendly for the final split to be apon the logo appearing.
Since a run would be considered dead once one dies, the main problem with the YOLO gem is that you must sit through the “fraud detection” and the “choke detection” things every match. The advantage it gives you mid battle, however, would definitely save time and possibly even make characters like kick or redacted viable options.
I was just wandering if glitchless catagorys would be added or if it was decided it wouldn't effect enough runs to be worth adding. The main reason I want these is because I play on console and thus can't preform the golden pumpkin glitch so I can't participate in Joja% or any other runs using the glitch.
From what I can tell Shane leaves his house the earliest out of any other NPC, plus he loves peppers and pizza, which are both easy to get, really the biggest problem I see with him is that he has a spring birthday, so you'll have to skip his birthday at least once since the run ( at least in my route) includes sleeping till winter for the first year.
Ok, that makes sense.
True, but maybe it could be useful for a glitchles category? That is assuming a glitch less catagory is added.
Ok, fair enough, but I think that the tutorial level shouldn't be allowed due to the different elixer gain rate and lack of timer, or it should at least be a different categorie, as it is unfair to anyone who isn't able/ isn't willing to reset their game. Just a thought though.
