I haven't found any good use with it just yet, but I ran into a situation where I was able to rock clip in the floor and walk to the edgemost part of the level with full controls. I was able to kill myself on a rock, but since I went under the level spawn points weren't registered and I was brought back.
@Highspirits, along with @Holysmith I was working on routing/testing and more detailed notes but other obligations steered me away for now, but I do plan to come back to it. Still very experimental and things that aren't yet fully understood on my part.
Mostly figuring out what is efficient but also consistent for boses (trying to lock them in place) will be big time savers. I'll share a few videos/theorycraft below.
Saline Slimer:
@Schaaa congratulations on the new world record and the discovery of these new zips! I think it's great for the game. Is it hard to perform?
Hello @Guppy
This is just a note/reminder that YouTube has your runs submitted to YouTube for this game hidden therefore may no longer be viewable. If you wish for your run to be viewable, please consider making it a public video in your YouTube account.
Thanks!

@thiagoch Found this by accident, if you killed two Gargoyles in Stage 3 at the same time and on coat-of-arms upgrade count, you can actually get two upgrades
Uploaded an Eric Controls + Mechanics guide Also uploaded an Eric US Normal tutorial.
I've got a long term project going for a nice edited version but these should prove helpful in the meantime.
@Pronssiparta - As a mod, I feel like you should be part of this discussion.
It was brought to my attention that RetroArch should be looked into as for providing an unfair advantage VS console runners.
Regrettably, I am not a subject matter expert but I do believe simple testing can yield results, so see below:
Using the same computer/settings, I've recorded 15 Loop Testing which is about 21 minutes of time (runs on this board should be between 15-20 minutes) to give us as realistic of an idea as possible over a real run.
Each loop is 5 of each character. Start and end of loop are when the Yin and Yang Logo fades out from the title screen. My conclusion is that RetroArch actually emulates the game SLOWER than console and therefore provide no advantage to runners, in this game.
See tests in the next post.
Emulation Rules for runs on or after July 3rd 2020.
SNES Solo Accepted Emulation: Higan (emulator or Retroarch) SNES9X ver. 1.51 or newer (emulator or bizhawk) SNES9X - Current core on Retroarch.
Genesis Solo Accepted Emulation: Genesis Plus GX Core (Bizhawk or Retroarch) BlastEm (through RetroArch or Emulator itself)
Co-op accepted emulation subject to change (put run in discord to open category): SNES9X Current core in RetroArch with NetPlay Kega Fusion with NetPlay PicoDrive core in RetroArch with NetPlay.
Emulation specifics:
- State Emulator/Version used in your description of submission.
- Reset from a load state is not allowed.
- Full soft/hard reset needs to be included in VOD.
- Must capture/include something in the VOD that shows which emulator you are using (capturing the emulator border(s), opening / showing RetroArch menu, etc.)
Hi, I have some inquiries about using Retroarch with netplay for Genesis Plus GX( which would be the preferred coop emulation to run). I even see that your rules states it is allowed for netplay, but @phantomire and I it states that the netplay is not supported on that core, so I'm unsure what we're doing wrong?
Hey all,
Just a quick update to let everyone know that @d4gr0n and I are the new moderators in place as of June 30th 2020. There are some pending runs to verify, and also a co-op run of our own. We may appoint a 3rd person to verify our own run as we feel strongly about not verifying our own run.
with that being said, the leaderboards content and look will change in the next little bit before the runs get sorted in their proper place.
I've noticed all 3 mods are inactive. I understand the game is not that popular, but it is preferred to resolve this internally if there is a response (rather than going to the site mods).
We have at least one recorded co-op category that we'd like to submit @d4gr0n and I so I could recommend a co-op category.
Hey guys,
I am trying really hard to speedrun this game but my character constantly falls straight through those platforms in Stage 2 and Stage 3 the enemies are on.
I tried jumping on them early, I tried waiting their "patterns" to stop and them jump, I even tried waiting like 10 seconds, but I just fall though dead in the middle of it.
Any help is appreciated. For what it's worth I play on the US version
Difficulty categories have been added. For new submissions, please include in your VOD the options menu showing the chosen difficulty.
Game plays very different than SNES that they should be in separate category.
