I for sure support it, and I am going to AGDQ so if you want I can do some couch comm.
Having done hundreds of attempts using save states in ng+, I can very safely say that there is no consistency in the heishin duel or any other duel whatsoever, and either way, it would be irrelevant.
You have to farm a new deck for every NG+ attempt, otherwise it isn't fair.
So you are proposing that we modify the leaderboards, and remove runs from up to 2 1/2 years old just to remove a >POTENTIAL< slight advantage over other runners that has no affect on the actual run itself?
Gcah, please.
I hope that if it does happen, it won't be NG+ exclusive.
If using save states just set them to the boot screen or something (before the cutscenes and stuff) in my opinion. Also, I'm assuming this is not relevant for NG+ runs...
As far as save states in general, I disagree completely with jumpyluff and grig on "they should never be used ever!!!" because that's just elitist and not really relevant in 95% of games.
I'd say, keep m13's run. Making rulings and banning/removing runs retroactively is never a good decision, even if its only a few days difference. Keep in mind, m13's run does not have an advantage over other runs, he just had a reset advantage, so his run is still perfectly beatable.
I've also done 100 duels with nothing. Welcome to the game, its all luck.
Late here, since I barely check this forum, but that sounds good, and I'd like it if this category were un-misc'd.
Oh I misread your previous post about deleting empty categories, my bad.
And you didn't reply to my pastebin linked, all you did was ask questions and make incorrect and uninformed assertions
That's irrelevant banter and you know it. I presented an argument which you refuse to respond to fully, and now threaten to delete the thread because you don't agree with it?
Fine moderation.
So if thats the criterion for a new category, why isn't slow mode a category?
Cirno is still an x6 runner, and he is currently running the game, so saying he isnt relevant is insulting.
Also, if normal and easy are separated why can't we have non-hyper dash categories?
You do not need to force anything to be single segment, and easy and normal runs are literally the same thing. Also, to answer your first question, cirno has deleted his account, and 8bit plans on never using the boards again.
I wrote my thoughts on the current board and how to fix it in a pastebin: http://pastebin.com/LA58QKaC
I would like to re-request moderation of the Mega Man X6 leaderboard. Timeline: I was a moderator for the game for about a year, until about 6~ days ago, where I was unmodded for no reason, and the leaderboard was completely redone. Then, all the changes were undone, and I was added as a moderator again. A forum discussion was then created, and it discussed changing the leaderboard to be more inclusive and comparable between versions (Emulator, X Collection, PS1, etc), and the discussion went nowhere, and the board's 3 categories were split into 17 and emulators were banned. This is a major concern, because the world record for All Stages (the most popular category) is done on an emulator (by me), and now the board does not display it at all. There were two easy options for rearranging the board to incorporate runs done on all versions, which was to timeout loading or use the in game timer. These two options were ignored by the mods and passed off as "not viable, not allowed, etc" and instead split the community apart incredibly. I would like to be able to fix the board, and incorporate runs of all versions, and not discriminate against players who play on certain platforms.
If a run where you choose to go slower is allowed to be displayed and be the standard category on the board, then why can't unarmored x xtreme slow mode be the standard category? Because it's not a speed run. The point of speed running is to go as fast as possible, and last time I checked, PS1 normal is about 5 minutes on average slower than XC on easy for all stages (the most popular category).
This is a speed run website.
So you make a thread in an attempt to allow the "community" to have a group decision, and go ahead and discuss it privately instead. Neat.
Creating 6 categories out of 3 is still obscene, and in principal as bad as having 18 (which you apparently still want in misc, rather than actual fun misc cats like ultimate armor, unarmored, etc) Also, while we're separating categories, can you split all PS1 categories up and have Slow mode categories too? It's just as valid as normal mode runs. Also, what about the PC Version which has an in-game speed up option? Can you make 9 categories for PC as well?
Also, how is in game time "not a valid option"? It's one of the two remaining possibilities in keeping this leaderboard good, rather than having a free world record zone.
