I definitely think there are more arguments for IGT than RT... Honestly if one more person (Tini?) is cool with it, I say we switch it back. Coming back to the game after playing it again, it felt abundantly clear that IGT was the better indicator of how good a run is.
And for the record, your run is super sick and should be WR imo.
It's been 3 years since this WR and I still cannot believe how good it is.
I've consumed so much speedrun content over the years, and I truly think this is one of the most crazy impressive speedruns I have ever seen.
People who don't play the game might not understand how impressive this is, but it's truly a work of art.
Woah nice time. Never expected to get bopped by Bismuth :O
Amazing first speedrun ever! You're definitely right that's it's tricky to play this game fast haha.
Looking forward to seeing future improvements and other runs you do in the future!
Everyone seems to be upset, but as a long time user of the site I find it to be clean, responsive, and refreshing. There are a few oversights I've noticed (such as game cover arts being squeezed into specific dimensions), however I'm sure all of the kinks will be ironed out and for the most part this seems like an excellent update.
Well done SRC staff!!
Coming back to this topic after a while, and I feel conflicted. I just started playing the game again, and it's a real shame that this game has mechanics that fuck with the IGT.
The way I see it, we can either favor IGT or RT and both will have their pros and cons.
For IGT being the method, the pros would be that it is more skill based & based on the timer given to you in game. It is also arguably much more fun. The con is that tininsteelian is correct, and that it's not really a speedrun - it makes it a high score run. One of my main games of choice, Cruis'n Exotica, has this same dilemma. In that game, RT won out, but a separate category was made for IGT. The issue doing that here, would be that I'm not sure there is a gameplay difference between the two categories.
For RT being the method, the pros would be that it's actually a speedrun of the game, but the cons are that it doesn't reward what the game wants you to do.
I'm not really sure what should be done, and both sides have their merits, but idk...
Maybe there should be a vote in the discord? Not sure if anyone will vote in it though haha.
It's a really goofy glitch that was discovered insanely quickly after LAS's release. The only examples I have off if it offhand is this goofy video I made for the discord after it was found, and an example of it being used in practice during an All Secret Seashell's run.
Could also just ban early rooster from this category specifically, so you're forced to do the trading sequence. I think it's a cool category idea.
Edit: Oops I meant to say early lens.. not early rooster lmfao
Is it known precisely where the trigger is? Or just that it is somewhere in that location.
Huh, that's a pretty interesting find. I would have figured it was the opposite and that the text animation was very lightweight and that the gifs were less so.
Damn I just got exposed.
I like my gifs too, but I agree site performance is of paramount importance. I do have a higher end PC, but my lower end work laptop can still load these pages/gifs fairly effortlessly.
Im curious however what the specs are on that machine - I just wasn't aware that gifs could cause such a performance issue in 2022.
Thats a very good point actually - I guess it depends on the runner/game/how many ILs they run. I could have showed a decent example on my IL page but I have the new layout, so I went to one of the 1080 snowboarding runners and checked their profile - something like this is on the extreme end, but it shows how compact it can be I guess.

It seems like for some people it would work really well, and for some people it would not work well at all, which is why I think a toggle would be so awesome lol
Totally agree with the levels being listed in a way that makes sense, rather than chronologically. Hopefully that gets fixed in the future, and I think in my ideal dream world, we could have two toggles for Full Runs and ILs to switch between the old/new style.
If that were the case something like keeping the new layout for full game runs and old layout for ILs would be possible, which I think is sweet.
I think so. I feel like my main issue is that I liked seeing the table/chart in my ILs as it felt much more compact and I could see more of my runs in one spot. It also felt satisfying filling up the table, where now it's just a normal list.
The only downside I could see with the tables is if there's are multiple categories and you're only running one of them, and you just have some wasted space in the table that will never be filled, if that makes sense. Tbh, that never bothered me though.
But yeah I think my biggest gripe is how "vertical" each run is on the profile, with different pieces of information being listed above/below each other instead of being from left to right.
Of course these changes are brand new so it could just be a classic case of "this is new and I don't like how it looks" bias, so I guess we will see how it improves over time!
Yeah for the ILs I definitely agree that having the tables is better.
Would be nice if you could toggle between the old style and the new one.
