How to play with a controller

If you are wanting to play run 3 with a controller, here is what you need to do.

Requirements:
1. A controller (Playstation and Nintendo Controllers will work)
2. The following programs: 
	- antimicro (https://github.com/AntiMicro/antimicro/releases/tag/2.23)
	- xjoy (If you are using joycons) (https://github.com/DuroSoft/XJoy/releases/tag/v0.1.9)
	- x360ce (If you are using a non-xbox controller) (https://github.com/x360ce/x360ce/releases/tag/3.2.9.82)
3. A stable pc

Steps:
1. Connect your controller to your pc.
2. 
	- If you are using joycons, open up the 'xjoy' program.
	- If you are using a non-xbox controller, open up the 'x360ce' program and set your controller binds.
	- If you are using a xbox controller, dont open up any of those programs.
3. Open up the 'antimicro' program, and set the following binds:
	- Left Stick: WASD
	- Right Stick: Mouse Controllers
	- D-pad: Arrow Keys
	- Left/Right Triggers: Right/Left Mouse
	- Left/Right Shoulders: Escape Key
	- XYAB: Space
	- Start: Escape
4: Open up Run
5. Enjoy!

Playing and Speedrunning Using Standalone Flash Player 32

# Intro

This guide aims to provide you with all the necessary information to be able to play and speedrun the game for PC/Web platform.

Flash was discontinued in web browsers at the end of 2021, however Flash games can still be played on your PC if you use a standalone Flash Player, which is essentially a local app that you can run which allows you to open flash (.swf) files.

# Using Standalone Flash Player

The easiest way to get this running is to open this [resource](https://www.speedrun.com/run3/resources/f92e8) and extract the .zip file. This will leave you with a Flash Player app, as well as the .swf file for the latest Kongregate version, which I use personally to play the game due to the fix for the Galactic Vandalism achievement, which Coolmath did not have implemented.

Once extracted, run the Flash Player .exe file and then select "Open" and then "Browse" to open the swf file. This should start Run 3 on the standalone Flash Player.  You can then play the game from here and progress will be saved at regular intervals and also upon closing the Flash Player.

# Resetting Save Data

Some categories require the reset of save data (e.g. any%) so that the file is fresh each run. I recommend duplicating the .swf file and using one for any% and the other for everything else (that doesn't need a reset, anyway).

To reset a file, you need to find the location of the corresponding data files. These can be annoying to find, but they should be located here:

AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\\**some_string*\localhost\\*rest_of_file_path_to_swf**

Inside the folder with the same name of the swf whose data you want to reset, delete all the files. This will reset the save the next time the save is opened in Flash Player. Also note that AppData is a hidden folder, but can be accessed by typing in %appdata% into the search bar in Windows and pressing enter.

Other .swf files exist which can have a slightly altered playing experience, but the one I am linking to is (to my knowledge) the best and fastest one to use. Savefile location (Standalone)

**Standalone, Windows 10:**

C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\Assortment of Numbers & Letters\localhost\ Go to the same folder you put the standalone .swf file.

*Run3.sol* is the savefile, to reset the game you have to delete it every time or when you have a clean file go to properties and select "only read" mode, in this way every time you re-open the game it will be resetted.
