I think it would be nice to add a madness mode category, since honestly, it's the more preferred mode when it comes to speedrunning, and also, it would just be neat.
Side note: It's exclusive to the new engine, but still.
Well, half the challenge (in my opinion) is the delays between the opponent's attacks. You have to be "on edge" while they're idle, so you can react to them. This is a two-fold reaction:
- Reacting to when they start attacking
- Reacting to specifically which attack they are doing
Both of these reactions make speedrunning this game fun.
Madness mode removes the first reaction, making the game significantly easier. I don't really understand why you think madness mode is preferred, but maybe in your circle of this community.
I mean, if you look in the comments of the original game, madness mode is often used for speedruns, so, no, it's not just me.
Well, their the comments of a scratch game, not an actual speedrunning community. Also, I have some pretty professioal runs!
madness mode has almost no luck, skill or reaction timing involved. it takes away the whole point of speedrunning almost this game, and most other games. i do understand that scratch's comments have a lot of madness times, but those runs are done by people who want it easy because they are casual players.
Alright then, but quick question. Do you use Turbowarp? I thought that was banned.
Imma be real im not 100% sure if its allowed, but a lot of people on the discord server talk about using turbowarp so I think its ok to use. I didnt use it for some of my earlier runs tho
aight, thanks for the clarification, there was a thread that said no, so I was just wondering.
Exactly, in madness mode you have to have faster reaction time and has a helluva lot of luck the same the base game actually, so madness mode should be on the leaderboard
