The rules say "no mods", but does that mean all mods or only ones that affect gameplay?

Means all mods, including just having ModLoader installed. That's why we want to see main menu at start of the run before you press "New game" or "Continue" to be sure it is not present. Changing textures in Pictures folder is fine though.
