Enter the town of Greenhorne. Speak to the mayor and a scene introducing the Dark Lord will play. You will be prompted to assign his role. The Dark Lord's role, as with all other roles the game prompts you to assign in the future, can be done by either making a Mii from scratch, selecting one off the internet by hand, or just "Autoassigning" a character to the role instantly. Finally, make 20 or so Miis with 1 letter names so you have them to select later on in the run. After the Dark Lord is assigned, he will kidnap the "Cheery Granny", "Carefree Guide", "Sassy Child", and "Lovey-dovey Woman" faces and flee. Talk to the Worried Mother to receive the Antique Charm Key Item. Exit the now-terror-bound town of Greenhorne. A temporary area opens up where the player meets the Dark Lord again. The Dark Lord puts the Sassy Child's face on a Mini Slime and the player is forced to fight it. Before this happens, the player is visited by a Guardian Spirit that grants them access to a job. Choose between the Warrior, Mage, Cleric, Thief, Pop Star (M/F), or Chef jobs and prepare for battle! BOSS: Mini "Sassy Child" Slime. There's very little to do other than attack, and all Jobs can kill this monster with only physical attacks. Kill it and move on. After the Slime dies, it will drop a Slime Jelly. After the Mini "Sassy Child" slime is defeated, the Sassy Child's face flies back off to Greenhorne. Return there posthaste! Upon entering, a scene plays and the Sassy Child's face is placed back on their body. The Worried Mother gives the player 200G as a reward. The Guardian Spirit then asks the player to defeat the Dark Lord on a quest, which they must accept. Beat 1-1 and go to 1-2. 1-2 is built as a straight line. The "Slip" Map event will occur, and either the player character or their teammate will pick them up off the ground. You will fight (Rock Moth, Goblin). A short Map Event plays where the two Miis wonder about the Carefree Guide's face location. Immediately afterward, the player will face a boss fight against Butterfly "Carefree Guide". You will find the Inn. After the boss fight, the Carefree Guide's face returns to Greenhorne. Examine them at the town to receive a reward of 200G. BOSS: Butterfly "Carefree Guide." This is the first of many bosses that hits twice. It has both a physical attack and a breath attack called "Silver Mist" that hits all targets. Using HP Sprinkles as necessary and keeping your damage up is most likely all you need to win this fight. Defeating this boss will get the player either a Butterfly Honey ★ or very rarely a Butterfly Honey ★★. Beat the levels to get to 1-5. In 1-5 the map is a straight line. You'll quickly come face-to-face with Rocky "Sarcastic Guy" and 2x Cumulus. You will find the Inn. BOSS: Rocky "Sarcastic Guy" + 2x Cumulus. This boss spawns with 2 Cumulus, which can heal him if he takes damage. Rocky "Sarcastic Guy" attacks twice and his attacks hit allies that are next to his target, too. If the player hasn't done any grinding, it's possible the player will have character(s) die in this fight. Keep all characters' health up and try to eliminate the Cumulus enemies quickly, and soon, Rocky "Sarcastic Guy" will follow them. Wallop the Rocky "Sarcastic Guy" to get at least a Choc Rock ★ or rarely a Choc Rock ★★. After saving Sarcastic Guy's face, if you return to Greenhorne, he will give you 10G if he is talked to (gee, thanks...) Completing 1-5 connects the area to the Nintendo Fan. DO NOT GO TO THAT UNLESS YOU ARE PLAYING 100%!!! Get to 1-7. This area is a straight line. The player will face off against "Lovey-Dovey Woman" Mouse and 2x Smileshroom. You will find the Inn. BOSS: "Lovey-Dovey Woman" Mouse + 2 Smileshroom "Lovey-Dovey Woman" Mouse, like Rocky "Sarcastic Guy", has attacks that hit adjacent party members as well as the target. The Smileshrooms can make your teammates Laugh, skipping their turns, so it's advised to deal with these as fast as possible to maximize your chances of winning. Hit the Mouse until it dies afterward. Defeating this squeaker and its cohorts will get you at least a Mouse Treat ★ or very rarely a Mouse Treat ★★. Returning to the couple in Greenhorne will fetch you a reward of 3 Game Tickets. Completing the area connects 1-7 with Greenhorne. This is the first stage in the Castle View. It is a straight line. Get to 1-8. A Map Event will play if this is the last face for the characters to find. A scene with the Dark Lord will play where he will summon an Imp to place the Cheery Granny's face on personally. You will face off against the Imp "Cheery Granny". You will find the Inn. BOSS: Imp "Cheery Granny" + 4x Apple Jelly. Imp "Cheery Granny" is the first serious threat to the player. If the Apple Jellies aren't killed quickly, they will definitely finish off the character the Imp has hit. Imp "Cheery Granny" has an attack called "Naughty Pitchfork" which targets a character with Magic damage. If she targets a Warrior or Thief, this may do almost all of their health in one hit, so if the player is not careful, they will definitely be paying for it. Use HP Sprinkles liberally and kill Imp "Cheery Granny" as quickly as possible, hopefully not losing too many teammates in the process. Punish this nasty imp and the jellies to get at least a Devil's Food Cake ★ or very rarely a Devil's Food Cake ★★. Returning the Cheery Granny's face gets you 2x Sharp Stew ★. Now that that's all done, return to Greenhorne and talk to the Mayor. Once all the faces have been returned to their rightful owners, the Mayor will give you the Mayor's Introduction, which will let you pass the Royal Guard and gain access to 1-4D. Got to 1-4D and let the cut scene play. Go to 1-9 This area branches into a 2-way fork with areas labeled "Lever" and "Game Tickets". They converge again into the Inn. A short Map Event regarding the castle and a possible princess is seen. The path forks as explained above. At Lever, the player sees an Odd Lever. If pulled, it opens the way to 1-9C. At Game Tickets, the player finds a chest with 3 Game Tickets inside. You will fight (4x Banshee). You will fight (Banshee, 2x Cumulus). You will find the Inn. Completing this area unlocks 1-10. Go to 1-10. This area is a straight line. You will fight (Banshee, Smileshroom, Banshee, Smileshroom). You will fight (6x Apple Jelly). You will encounter the Roaming Gourmet, who will give you 3x Cheesecake. He will then disappear from the map. You will find the Inn. Completing this area unlocks Greenhorne Castle. Enter Greenhorne Castle. Upon entering the area for the first time, the player is asked to assign four characters: The King of Greenhorne, the Princess of Greenhorne, the Besmirched Noble's Son, and the Prince from a Nearby Land. The characters that reside in the area (besides the ones you just assigned) are the following: Serious Soldier, Lax Soldier, Royal Support (Left), and Royal Support (Right)". Entering the King's chamber will introduce you to him. He will brush off the Player's warnings and will lose his face. You will then be prompted to go save him. Exiting the Castle will give you access to 1-6. Again, DO NOT do this level unless you are doing a 100% run. The next area is 1-11. This area is a straight line. The "HP Banana Appreciation" Map Event plays. You will fight (Banshee, Mole). The "Bottle Drink" Map Event plays. You will fight (Apple Jelly, Mole, 2x Apple Jelly, Mole, Apple Jelly). You will find the Inn. Completing this area unlocks 1-12 and 1-15. This area forks multiple times. It is better to explain by route than direction. The next area is 1-12. You will fight (Smileshroom, 2x Banshee). A fork will appear. UP: The "New Clothes?" Map Event will play. UP, UP: You will fight (Mole, Banshee, Mole). You will find a Large Chest, and you will find a chest with 1 Game Ticket. You will find the Inn afterwards. UP, DOWN: You will find a chest with 2x Mouse Treat ★. You will hit "UP, UP"'s 1 Game Ticket chest. You will find the Inn afterwards. DOWN: The "Tall Grass" Map Event will play. The player will find a chest with enemies in it (5x Apple Jelly). You will find the Inn afterwards. DOWN, UP: You will hit "UP, UP"'s 1 Game Ticket chest. You will find the Inn afterwards. DOWN, RIGHT: You will find the Inn. Completing this area will unlock 1-13. 1-13 has multiple branching paths that are better explained like with 1-7. A fork will be found. UP: You will fight (Rock Moth, Poison Moth, Rock Moth). UP, UP: The "Prank" Map Event will play. The "Campfire" Map Event will play. UP, DOWN AND DOWN, UP: You will find a chest with 3 Game Tickets inside. DOWN: You will fight (Rock Moth, 2x Poison Moth). DOWN, DOWN: The "New Clothes?" Map Event will play. The path will then converge for all paths. You will fight (Banshee, Poison Moth, Banshee, Poison Moth). You will find a chest with 400G inside. You will find the Inn. Completing this area will unlock 1-14.
