After some testing, we can now start verifying runs played on the new Master Collection versions of this game. A forum page has been opened up so runners can discuss this further if it requires changing. See here: https://www.speedrun.com/mgs2hd/forums/shish. Snake Tale speedruns on Steam needs further testing with the autosplitter, but will most likely follow the same rules above.
For now, the following rules apply to those runs:
-
All Tanker-Plant, Tanker, and Plant runs will be seperated by the following subcategories: PC and Console.
-
The PC subcategory will only include runs done on Steam port of Master Collection.
-
The Console subcategory will only include runs done on:
-
HD Collection ports of the Nvidia Shield, PlayStation 3, PlayStation TV, PSNow, Xbox 360, XboxOne, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.
-
Master Collection ports of the Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.
-
-
All Tanker-Plant, Tanker, and Plant runs regardless of their platform, will still require the credits sequence and score screen to be shown on the submitted video.
-
For the Master Collection Steam port, runners will have the option to choose between the in-game time (IGT) displayed on their score screen or using an ASL script on LiveSplit that tracks loadless real time (LRT). The ASL file will be linked in the resources page.
Note: There needs to be a discussion held about what mods are allowed to be used while speedrunning.
