Hey everyone,
It's been about a month since we first officially rolled out sh2_luck's Cutscene Skip patch and implemented the categories for it on the leaderboard. During this time, sh2_luck has been working hard on optimizing the patch, fixing bugs, and making it an easier and smoother experience for us all to use.
In doing so, Luck has turned the patch into an All-in-one .ELF file, meaning we no longer need to use Cheat Device, .pnach files, or any sort of cheat codes directly on our end. Once the .ELF file has been booted, this .ELF can detect which version of KH1 you are attempting to play (1-E, 1-J, or 1-FM), and automatically boot the game with the patches applied.
In addition to the normal Disc support, OPL Support is included in the patch, allowing for the patch to be played on HDD for fast loading times. OPL has been added as a console variable on the leaderboards as well.
Here is the updated Installation Tutorial and Video Demonstration of the patch and its features. All downloads can be found in the video description and in the Resources tab of the leaderboard page.
Hey everyone,
After over a decade of dreaming for it, a patch has FINALLY been made to remove Cutscenes in both the English and Japanese versions! The moderators and community unanimously agreed to add categories for this new Cutscene Remover patch, and we are now accepting submissions!
This patch works on both PS2 Console with Disc as well as Emulator.
This patch was created by sh2_luck, and skips nearly every cutscene in the game automatically, without the need to enter a pause menu to skip the scene. The only cutscenes that are still unskippable are Genie Jafar's, Beast meeting with Belle, 100 Acre Wood's Book closing after the final page, and the classic unskippable cutscene from 1.5 HD after Behemoth.
A poll was hosted in the Kingdom Hearts Speedrun discord on whether or not the intro FMV should be skippable as well, and 70% of the 20 voters voted in favor of also making the Intro FMV Skippable, so this will be skipped as well.
Below is a tutorial for installing and using the Cutscene Remover patch.
The files can be found in the description of the video as well as the "Resources" tab on the leaderboard page under "Patches".
