So I've just watched Lexington Event Center submitted runs for 1.8. xTHEFIZHx starts the run at exact mission teleport position after selecting it on map (which is probably the fair way of calculating it). Banned starts the run 4 steps far that point and with preactivated seeker mine skill! oO
We should enforce clearer rules here. It says "Timer starts on mission replay" which probably means "Timer starts as soon as you start moving after teleport to initial mission location". Also you can't have skills activated before starting the run as landing mine is your input.
Also on Lexington Event Center one can just wait at start of the mission long enough to skip interacting with first officer. This would be a violation aswell.
I guess Banned should retime his runs.
My runs are timed frame by frame. First frame of objective showing Stopping of first frame of mission ending (reward in chat)
Also "removing" the interact with the first officer requires to start the first objective iirc.
Well, I can't really see how is it fare to have skillshot performed before timing of the run starts. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
While I see your point here, I want to address the inability to proper time runs if everyone would use such arbitrariness. There is set mission start point – basically mission starts as soon as you reset difficulty settings in mission menu. There is also set fast travel point where you get by selecting mission on the map and pressing X. Standing closer to objective, killing NPCs who are part of the mission and do respawn every time makes it's really debatable what is single source of truth here.
To exaggerate my point – one can just kill all mission NPCs and complete all mission objectives, then return to mission start point and only then start his timer. Then he would run to final objective – button or NPC and just complete that.
IMO runner must perform all required (unskippable) objectives within his run timer.
One can't just kill all mission npcs and complete the objectives since the timer start when the mission start. aka entering the mission area.
Check 1 of my other runs, it got an ever "worse" setup where you kill the whole first area befor entering the mission & without triggering the first objective.
I get your point but it's not valid since it's not possible.

That mission is prepared without a trigger of the first objective.
