Hi, I´m thinking about learning any%. Is it needed to Play all games on one console? It would be fastest to Play BK on PAL and the rest on NTSC, I think. Because I got all 3 PAL Versions, does anyone know how much time I would lose in BT and DK?
For DK, exact time difference from patches isn't known. However, we do have timings for every cutscene in 101% on NTSC & PAL. In terms of Any%, you lose a little over 96s to cutscenes by being on PAL (If you're doing the 1-kong 2014 route). Given a couple of extra patches (Having to ledge clip to escape DK Isles, Climb on top of poles in Tiny Phase), I'd say you lose around 2m-2m30s because of PAL.
Thanks for the quick response. I´ve heard that some tricks are harder in 101% on PAL. Is that also the case in any% or just the time loss.
Some tricks are harder in 101%, a fair amount impossible because of patches.
For Any%, the only thing which is "harder" is escaping training grounds (because you have to do a ledge clip). However, this is only if you do the 1-kong route.
If you're doing the 5-kong route (Which is far easier to start with), then the only other things which come to mind which are 'harder' is the STS into Banana Fairy Island to get the camera, and having to do a few more ledge clips (instead of STVW-ing).
That being said, I'm pretty sure you don't need to be running on the same console/region for all 3 games. I know that for the 301%, some people used N64 for BK/BT and then Wii U VC for DK64. So if you can acquire a US DK64/BT cart, it's probably worth it.
Ok, thank you. That should be all information I needed. I´ll think about buying an US DK Cart, if my learning progress isn´t absolutely frustrating on Emu. .
