Hey everyone,
I was wondering if other people found a way to clip through the gate located behind the skip with the yellow sign? I am not a speed-runner, but a big fan of Billy Hatcher and after two days of trying I found a way to clip through the gate.
This could possible save around 5-10 seconds since you don't have to get up to the yellow switch, watch the cut-scene and roll back. I only have a very crappy video on my mobile right now (again, I don't have decent recording software and play on a very old T.V.) but I will try to record a clear one for you all to see.
Of course, if you guys already found this skip this post is very embarrassing. I am trying to find a way to clip through the gate at (4-2) to get into the Ice Castle faster.
Also, I am MrFami from The Netherlands, I am thinking of getting into speed-running Billy Hatcher. :]
Cheers,
Fami
There is already a discovered way to go passed the gate, not necessarily clip through, but we do not press the switch to open the gate. However, There is no current way to clip into the ice castle, so that would be a very useful skip if found :)
Alright! But just in case, are we talking about the same gate? I've seen run of Squid, the fastest, and he didn't do the gate skip. Here is a YouTube video:

Hey Squid, cool clip. Too bad it's useless, but who knows maybe you will find a weird loading zone there or something someday. :) I will keep this community updated with all my new findings.
And have you guys found a way to be consistent with the gate clip? :)
I myself do it in two parts - first I get the smaller yellow egg after hopping over the gate by bouncing off the sign, I locate Billy lined up exactly with the corner and make a reasonably far and flat jump and keep pressing up to sink deeper into the corner. At that point, Billy will be stuck if you've done it correctly (you can test this by trying to walk out of the corner).
What you want to do is get stuck like that after the jump, don't move, jump again and slightly press up-right. With a little practice, this becomes a really consistent and easy way to clip through the gate. I can pull it off in one try about 60-70% of the time now.
I'm trying to find a good setup for TAS but I keep falling to my death lmao (I got it working a few times but too slow)
Instead of jumping before the kick, you can also charge the kick. After charging it a tiny bit, Billy will "fall", but if you release B withing 2 frames of falling, he will go through. I've been dying a lot with this though.
Oh, yeah! I completely forgot to mention that after you have sunk into the corner, jump again, press up-right you should time a egg kick at the exact moment you lack. I haven't tried your method yet, fanboss, but I will give it a shot.
I think my method will be less conistant - and especially more risky - than yours in the end, but faster for TAS situation (only one jump required).
