So in the rules for the new Melee only category it says melee weapons only (knife/axe.) So during the second fight with jack are we allowed the chainsaw as it is a new game melee weapon? I know he can be killed without it, but you have to grab the chainsaw either way to open up the door.

edit: sorry i misread the question, u said the second fight so i thought u meant mutated jack, i don't see why u couldnt it's a melee weapon.

You need to grab the chainsaw to proceed but you don't need it to fight against Jack, so technically, if you do melee only (knife only pretty much) you need to do the fight with the knife.

if it's knife only, call it knife only. If it's melee only, allow the chainsaw.

A better solution most likely.

Now what about the axe at the start of the game? :^)

I'd say just allow the chainsaw. The first phase still has to be with knife only regardless, as in, to trigger Jack to allow you pick it up.

Or just call it melee only but specify Chainsaw is banned to be used as a weapon.

Since you can defeat Jack 2 with the knife I would say that the chainsaw isn't allowed in my opinion.

Wonder what about Jack 1? Does the car count?

And apparently Margarite 1 will jump in the hole after some time so the only time a gun is needed is the final phase of Eveline.

If we're going into the realms of "a gun is allowed for eveline" then how do we determine whats allowed, any gun?> handgun only? is enhanced ammo allowed? I'll probably do melee only so im just curious about what we're constituting as weapons allowed, since if we can use any gun its different to pistol only

Liv's right; you literally can't beat her, with the first part she will just 1 hit kill you when you get to close, and the second part she's well, way too high in the sky to melee her. My only question to the mods I suppose is if we're allowing weapons in general to beat eveline or just the pistol; and if it's pistol alone, is enhanced ammo allowed.

Eveline's first and second sequences at least (her face in the house, and the part where she's hanging you from the sky) can both be beaten entirely through melee.

Only part where using something other than the Knife pretty much is required is when the game forces the Albert handgun onto you, which is basically this games version of firing the rocket at the tyrant.

Oh dang really? Every single time i've tried to get close with the knife she eats me, and well since i could never do that part i was assuming its near impossible to hit her when shes in the sky; in which case if its just the albert then yeah, its literally the end game trigger with the weapon.

XTerminator you can kinda hug the wall and slash at her "arm" in the attic phase without getting eaten. Face shots are more damage but hard to avoid getting eaten.

The only part i wonder about is the first jack fight. is smashing jack with the car allowed?

because you can proceed with out the car.

Car should be allowed as the restriction is based on weapons, nothing else really.

Same thing as using the bombs in Lucas' section to hurt the Molded.

You can avoid using the car. You cant avoid the bombs. They walk into them intentionally lured or not. Not to mention bombs are stationary and not placed by you. The car is driven by you and can be avoided. The car is faster so i dont mind going that way, but feels anti melee only run as youre using a vehicle. Its not a firearm, but it isnt melee either.

At the same time when releasing the cart to take out the wall in the mine i always kill a molded.

Im fine with using the car, its faster. Definitely something worth clarifying.

I tried to kill Evie with Knife only on console in the attic and it seemed the knife wasn't dealing damage and I got made into grub every time, has someone tried it on Console to make sure she can be killed with melee only?

you can kill her. Make sure you use ethans knife and not mias. Its weaker for whatever reason. It should take around 20 slashes to the face.
