I posted this question in the speedrunning channel in the discord, but I figured I should post it here as well. I found that, if you add in the "controls" section in the settings json file, the phrase ""skipDialogue": 86.0, ", you can change the default launch keybind for skipping dialogue immediately to anything you want (in this case, I set mine to "v"). Would this be allowed in runs? The rules state that "Modifying the game files in any way is not allowed", so I was curious if this could/would be an exception?
As I also said in the discord I don't believe this should be allowed in runs as it's a massive qol change that ensures runners can always play with their preferred config without having to change it every reset.
Don't you only have to start a new save/ delete progress file? The setting file doesn't have to be changed between runs. Also time begins on "let's go" so you could change the keybinds then, so I don't think allowing this would change anything really
This is mainly for 100% runs where you have to delete your save file through your file manager which auto resets any settings, including keybinds
Even in 100%, it says you only have to delete the progress file, then make a new save. That doesn't change the settings file
From what i've read in some support posts, it appears the devs have fixed or are in the process of fixing the issue with keybind resets, so this should become unneccesary.
As for the 100% run: there's 3 json files: save.json (which can be reset in-game), progress.json (needs to be deleted manually), and settings.json (rules say nothing about this).
My main concern would be that we are currently not 100% sure if there's ways to modify settings.json in ways that were not intended to be ingame settings or bug or glitch it somehow, and allowing it for keybinds can make potential misuse of that hard to police. Additionally, the settings ingame resetting is reflected by settings.json resetting as well, as that is where the game looks for it's settings, so manually digging though that would be unaffective.
Given the above, I don't believe there is a real benefit to allowing changing the save files, while not being sure if it opens the door for potential abuse. Just double check the keybinds in the options menu before you start your run.
Yeah, the main reason I brought this up was just quality of life stuff for boss rush runs, however, since the issue is about to be fixed, it no longer is something I want to do, since there were so many settings files in so many places.
Hello 100% enjoyers
A small rule has been added to the 100% rules stating that you must show that you have obtained all of the achievements after credits. When checking this you are allowed to collect the "Space Glasses", "Dilltini's Fedora" and "Legal name change" as these are only obtainable afte
