Why split 3D All-stars into its own separate leaderboards?

Why not have separate categories on the SMS leaderboards for switch or just allow switch, Wii, and GCN to co-exist on one category? I don't really see the problem. If its because 3D all stars is a limited time release so is every game if you really think about it. Like I can't get a new copy of SMS fresh from the factory in 2020 unless its 3D all-stars, the choice to separate the leaderboards is really stupid in my opinion and should be highly reconsidered. Not just for sunshine, but for 64 and galaxy as well, at the end of the day its the same game. So why not just allow it on the main SMS leaderboards?

Because super mario 3d all star is different. or atleast sm64 and super mario sunshine are different. sm64 is based on the shindou edition which mean BLJ isn't a thing so 0, 1, and 16 stars speedrun aren't possible. So 70 and 120 stars being the only possible runs it wouldn't make sense to put it with the normal game. since it's not the same. 3d all star version of mario sunshine has a glitch on sirena beach only emulators have. faster loads, less lag frames. The biggest drawbacks are no notches on the controller, fludd spraying slower, and jump/talk being on the same button. Overall the 3das version is faster from what I understand. And i'd assume there a similar case for mario galaxy, as in it load faster. most of the glitches from the original version remain in all 3 games (Aside from BLJ) this is why super mario 3d all star has a different leaderboard.

Okay, but 64 is still the same as JPN Wii/Wii U VC and they're on the 64 leaderboards as you can see in 70 star on VC runs. Also you already allow emus, just be like the SM64 leaderboards and have EMU, VC and Console on separate categories, and why not make one for switch as well if its really that much of a problem. Making the rereleases its own separate src page is a dumb choice in my opinion, no need for that when SM64 shows you can do it just fine with no issues with EMU, VC and actual N64. So I personally believe that switch should be separate as well as emu to get more people into running the game, I'm sure that if they get dedicated enough to the game, they'll eventually switch to actual hardware, like how an old friend of mine switched from VC to actual N64 in SM64. So having them in separate categories could bring in more people, because I'm pretty sure the average Joe would look up Mario Sunshine and not think to look up 3D allstars assuming they want to learn it on allstars, and if they don't take the time to do research the could be put off from learning the game.

All remakes have a separate leaderboard. Best example is Super Mario All Stars (the SNES one) and each of the GBA remakes of the 2D games. It's not that big of a deal to have different leaderboards.

@VichinoDDA 2D SMAS isn't... on... a separate page... though? https://speedrun.com/smas just has multi-game runs?

The thing is that since the 3DAS version is different, even if ever so slightly, it wouldn't make sense to have it be in the same category. And since it's (an even more than usual) limited release, it wouldn't make sense for it to have its own category here on this leaderboard. I think the current solultion that the three communities agreed upon is the best one

@SwampertTube All 3 communities have 3D All Stars on the 3D All Stars leaderboard. Just do your best on Super Mario 3D All Stars for the Nintendo Switch (2020) and submit on the leaderboards for that game. Once you get your time, you open up speedrun.com and submit to your leaderboard. Why worry about the OG game if you're not going to submit to the OG? You'll be alright, dude. Show us a great time. Get Sirena 6 glitch in your run for us too. That'd be siiick.

You run to improve your time. To beat your past self. Leaderboards and where they are shouldn't be a priority.

Exactly boyish. as rsw and i said. 3DAS is different. plus it doesn't matter if its on a diff leaderboard. it's still a game you'Il probably want to speedrun. cause long live mario games. (especially sunshine its my fav of all time)

I didn't know the talk button being the same as the jump button was a new addition. And it hecked me hardcore on the Chuckster Secret. I was trying to kill the little ball guys and accidentally talked to the Chuckster in the middle, and he chucked me... oh, you know, to the other end of the universe. Love that level.

3das is much faster than the switch version, toubou, for example has a time that is a minute faster on 3das than gamecube. maybe he has just played 3das for a good while, but he has a much faster time on 3das.

England

*40 seconds faster :/
