it would be cool if we could all share tech and routes here to push the speedrun scene for this game
Tech: go fast Route: go fast
Seriously though, idk how anyone would even write out a route for this game, what would you even say, "kill that one Metroid in that one room?" As far as tech you can do bomb jumps and some spots have precise wall jumps. Also I guess spider sparking towards the end counts.
Good point haha. To be honest im new to speedrunning and stuff so bear with me for being a chump
In terms of tech the only small things I've found is that if you jump roght when you grab a ledge then you will immediately spin jump to the platform which cancles the slower get up animation, and also with raised one block high tunnels it can be faster to jump and tap the screen to go int morph ball and enter rather than doing the ledge grab animation idk if this stuff is useful sorry
Im working on routes so far and, what Ive noticed the most is that their can be a massive number of routes, it mostly depends on skill(which is obvious). You could go through the game grabbing only pickups you see as you run by, or just the bare minimum. Not to mention that enemies will charge at you as soon as you are on screen which makes it harder.

Don't know how useful this trick would be though.
Don´t know if this is common knowledge, but i just realized that you can do a mini-screwattack by charging your blaster and jumping. It kills the small floaty jumpy things in the first area and also the basic green monsters.
I was able to skip Ice Beam in Area 1:
Pretty sure you still need it to kill Metroids in Area 8 though
Are you able to powerbomb the metroids? It would probably be faster to use ice-beam regardless.
Had to sign up as I love this game and the speed running community always look awesome, I am nowhere near as good as those currently running the game but I have found a tiny damage boost route adjustment which I notice isn't on current runs. Got nothing setup for video capture currently though, guess I could use my phone XD
I found it on my first 100% play through purely by accident. In the screen with the first teleporter in area 2 the current route has a bomb jump from the first platform but what you can do instead is jump to the second platform, wall jump off the bottom part of the left pillar up to the middle part, you then jump to lure the flying enemy down and then jump a second time into the enemy to damage boost up to the top under the first area 3 teleporter.
I ran it against the fastest attempt on that screen and it shaves about 6 seconds off when done perfectly and if missed and reattempted it saves about 2 seconds. I hit it first time about 80% but I am not very good so prob easier for others.
I commented this on with timestamp but if none of that made sense I'll publish my first ever youtube video.
just saw kirbymastah's and my damage boost only saves about 2 seconds on that so it would need to be 100% before taking seriously
I REALLY need to know how to do the clip in this. Such as the spider clip for both wall and elevators/teleporters, and the clip for the aeon mouth statute thing. I found videos, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J4UQycFdsro&list=PLqbE226JZcPMxksoiDeSm4qBO2WtrQpPU&index=4, but I couldn’t understand how to do it. Especially the controller input. Please help me out!
