Hi, I'm starting to run this game and I ran into a problem right away; starting a new file does not allow you to skip cutscenes throughout the run. I was hoping that we could either create a new category, or allow any% to use an already complete file.
Sorry I should add to this, playing with the cutscenes would lose multiple minutes throughout the run, and for my own happiness, I want to skip them. If I can't submit to any%, (which I think would be a bad idea), I at least want there to be an NG+ I can submit to. For now, I'm going to submit my cutsceneless run as any% wr.
Hey there!
Yeah, you're totally right. I've only been doing IL's, so I kind of just made the full game rules without thinking too much about it. I verified your run for any% fullgame, and just updated the rules to allow any save file to be used, as long as a run includes all the levels.
Thanks!
That's awesome man, I really appreciate the effort.
One more thing, do you think I could be a moderator for this game? I plan on running it a lot and I would really like to verify my own stuff :P I'm not sure if you have the power to mod people, but from what I've seen it's better to ask an existing mod first. Thanks :D
I have a question about the Full Game Any% category. The rules state that 'Any save file is fine, but you must complete every level in order for the run to be valid'. From what I read from this thread, this rule was primarily created for the possibility to skip cutscenes. But already created savefiles can have another advantage we should be aware of. If you have all stars and if you don't improve your scores on a stage, the game won't update your scores and won't open the save menu. That allows you to scroll to the next level immediately which saves about 4-5 seconds per stage. Multiplied with 17 stages (not counting the last one), this allows you to save about 01:00 to 01:30 minutes, which is a lot for a short game like this one. That means, the best savefile would be a 100% completed savefile which has very good IL times for every stage so it would be unlikely that they were updated during a Full Game run. My question is if making use of this advantage is valid for Full Game runs, or must IL times of the current run be visible which would mean that you have to pick a save file with high IL times so they would be updated for each stage, and thus simulating a new game file ?
It's definitely better to have faster IL times so you can avoid the fastest time updating. That's perfectly cool and acceptable to have in runs. That was something I was already aware of. The stars don't affect anything to my knowledge unless you collect a new star. A save file can have any amount of progress. As a side note, after you finish a run, you can always pause the game and check the in game time too if you wanna see your in game time for the whole run.
