Mod for 100% Moon Spawn

I know in all endings, the moon spawn rate can be a huge run killer. While I was poking around the game files, I found a way to make the moon spawn 100% every time, this would eliminate some RNG for All Endings and make it a little more forgivable. Let me know if this is something you would perhaps wanna use in the future, or if it just sounds crazy haha.

In the meantime, I will continue trying to work on an autosplitter for this amazing game

I think removing some RNG sounds good for the health of the game. We'll wait for a few more yes votes before officially making a mod a part of runs, since it's a pretty big decision for the community.

Also good luck with the autosplitter, it would be amazing having one!

An autosplitter! You're a legend for that, as far as a mod in game, because runners have no other way around otherwise, I'm game.

I'd like to hear from others though, like do mods like this exist for other games?

So I've seen other mods/patches for other games I've run, namely Exodus: From the Earth that change parts in the Assembly-CSharp.dll to fix parts of the game that were buggy/broken. In terms of the moon, its honestly up in the air because RNG is technically part of how runs get world records

And as for the autosplitter, I'm still pretty new to anything like that so it wont happen overnight haha

I don't really like the idea of modifying the moon spawn rate. Even though we lose lots of runs it is intended by the developer and it has an indirect impact on your run. Less viable runs from the start means higher difficulty. If the moon has a 100% spawn rate it'll be easier and you'll get a good time with less work

Yeah I'm starting to wean off the idea. Like you said its a developer intended mechanic and if someone doesnt want to deal with the RNG, then maybe it isnt the run for them. Ty for the input ^^

If people don't like the idea of 100% spawn, what about a mod that would tell you if it's there earlier? If I recall correctly, the game rolls to see if it should spawn the moon as soon as you enter the forest, so you could have a mod that would pop up a "no moon" message right away. Then you could reset immediately without having to run all the way to the other side of the map to see if it's there. Might be a nice middle ground option.

Saving and Loading behind the church also allows the moon to spawn in there, so for IL's its worth it to just reset the run since its only 1-2 minutes wasted if you dont get it first try. And for All endings I've just been Saving and Loading until I get moon. Works pretty alright ^^
