Title says it all! ;]

Are we allowed any of the many emulators out there for this game? I sold my 3ds a long time ago and am in the middle of trying to find a used one cheap.

Thanks so much! ;] In your latest video that I watched on here, were you playing on a DS or a 3ds? I could not tell.

Also I have one more question haha

Since we can use DesMuME, are we allowed to use X432R ? X432R is a Japanese fork of DesMuME, it is a lot more stable and accurate to the original DS. It also has a bunch of extra features, like increasing the internal 3D resolution. Just Quality of life stuff, besides the stability and accuracy improvements.

Gotcha, I appreciate it. If it ends up NOT being legal, then thats fine. I would just rather use an emulator that is as close to 100% accurate as possible.

im not mod so dont take this as, this is the actual rules. But i think its that you can use any emulator, as long as there is no save states being used, or as long as your not using anything to assist your run that is unfair. then i think its allowed.

Well there is actually a standard rule set for using emulators during speedruns. There are specific emulators that are allowed, and the rest of them are not allowed what so ever. But then there are ALSO predetermined sets of rules for emulation with each games community specifically., most of the time anyways.

Here is an example from SRL :

Can I play on an emulator? If the emulator is accurate and the community for that game accepts emulator as a valid choice, then yes, you can. The most commonly used emulators for each system include:

NES - FCEUX 2.2.0 GB - bgb SNES - SNES9x 1.53 GBA - VBA 1.7.2 Genesis/GameGear/SMS - Fusion N64 - Project64 v1.7 For reference, the following emulators are globally banned for use in racing:

SNES - ZSNES, snes9x 1.4x N64 - Project64 2.x GB/GBC - VBA, VBA-M GBA - VBA-M (use VBA instead. If VBA does not support your GBA game, please contact an op.)

That is why I always ask if emulators are allowed if I plan on running something that I don't have a console for at the moment.

You can use emulator but it has to be stable. I have only tried DeSmuME, so it is currently recommended. If there is an emulator more stable than that, you can use it without problems. If it is less stable, you cant use it. If you show me a gameplay with X432R, it would be great.

The final rules are not yet, I hope they are soon. Emulators is one of the things that had to be resolved. But at the moment, stable runs are accepted. If there are some lags, it can be rejected.

Great! Thanks for all the helpful replies.

Can't wait to start running this game. Going to start practicing a bit once I get back home from work in about 6 hours ;]

can i use openemu, its emulator for mac.

Chile

OpenEmu? Only if the emulation is stable. If it is not, the run will be rejected. Many times a good computer is needed. If you have doubts before doing a Single Segment (24 tracks, missions and cups), you can try to upload an Individual Level run.

All full game runs have been retimed to use IGT, and the rules have been updated accordingly to clarify this for future submissions to avoid confusion.
