So I just picked up a PS2 copy of this game, and unfortunately, unlike the GameCube version, it seems like you can never skip cutscenes. Going back into Chapter Select still does not allow you to skip them. Very annoying.
Weirdly, the PC version always allows you to skip cutscenes, even if you've never seen them before.
As is known, GameCube only lets you skip them after you've seen them once.
Anyone happen to know if/under what circumstances the Xbox version lets you skip cutscenes? Xbox emulation is kinda trash so I haven't been able to test it that way. Would be cool if there was a console version that let you skip cutscenes in Any%, because I really don't want to deal with the garbage PC port if I don't have to.
I haven't tested the Xbox version yet, but I have one on the way and will let you know when it comes in!
How bad is the PC port? I have a copy, but haven't sat down to test it yet because I've just been playing on my Cube instead.
It's mainly annoying because it's forced fullscreen at pretty low resolution (and using DxWnd or anything else like that makes the game super unstable) and has limited controller compatibility. There's also something up with the framerate/physics, I can't get an FPS display to work correctly with it so I don't know what framerate it's trying to run at but it's definitely off.
What are you running the PC version on? I tried to get it working on my Windows 10 machine without any luck. I'm going to get to try it on an actual Windows XP machine this weekend to mess around with it, but that sounds like a pain to record a run on.
Windows 10 as well. I don't have anything older than Windows 7 to work with. Could try a virtual machine I guess, but I can't imagine that'll be an improvement.
In NG+, die in Freezecopter level. Every single cutscene following this level (also those that are normally unskippable in NG+) will now be skippable.
Specifically, this only seems to work currently on the PAL Gamecube version? Very strange.
edit I was able to get the first two to work on a NTSC Gamecube copy, I think it's just way trickier at 60hz?
