Well we xan have Arcade% and set the amount of floors (or whatever you wanna call them. Seems kinda cool to do since they are all randonly generated from the looks of it. Maybe even go as far as you cant buy sheilds from shop during run to use and no revives. Im not sure about characters and whos the best but maybe if the community wants they can set a character to use for the category or inform the most ideal character to use. Timer can start once pressed arcade and ends when you complete the floor based on the category (Ex: complete floor 10) It has to be only video and with a timer though.
I really like that idea. Here are some quick rules I made up, if you have any things you want to add or change, please say it.
Rules:
-
Complete 5 floors in Arcade Mode
-
Timing starts on selecting “Play Arcade” and ends on the first frame where all the blocks under the player have appeared after the player finished the 5th floor.
-
No shield are allowed during the run.
-
No revives are allowed during the run.
-
You don’t have to complete all grounds in one time. If you die after one just continue.
-
Please send a video with a timer. It makes it much easier to verify, and also quicker.
For example: if you die on floor 3, then you just click away the revive window (no revives allowed), and then you press “Play Arcade” again and just continue like you are on the 3rd floor. The timer stays running though.
Ah okay, makes sense. Also we should specify that bonus levels dont count as a new stage. Unless everyone wants ut that way. Im not sure but I do think that it shouldnt be like that.
About the characters, I think everyone should use the standard character (Travelboy?).
That’s because everyone then has the same odds of getting specific powerups, and because everyone has that character.
That is a very good idea dude ^-^ love the way your thinking. Also since its more of a time thing using the basic character makes it more easier.
Also for highscore% I know for some games they specify the characters they used so maybe doing that would be cool.

So some games have the timer (in this case the score) and they have a part that shows the character they used. Since theres a variety of characters in the game you can put that in Arcade%
I feel like the way the individual levels are timed isnt that correct. Beeing a mod in a really simular game (spike city) i feel like the timer starting as soon as your character starts moving is more fair cause the small time between pressing play and having controll over your character may very a bit between devices which may give an advantage to people with speedier devices. Also the time should stop as soon as you hit the end portal thing because the first frame which the menu appears is really specific and may also give a small advantage to people with faster devices (again) Also the level 1 world record of 9 seconds is a bit bs .. i retimed it my self a couple of times (with the way the original rules are) and they all turned out longer..

Im flying over sees so i wont have internet for like 2 days so i might not respond soon
Im not so sure on the timing or differences in devices. If we do decide to look into it that would be cool, maybe even make sub categories for andriod and ios.
I think you’re correct on the timing things. I’ll change the rules, but I’m not going to retime all the runs. If you feel like doing that then you’re welcome to do that and then just make a forum post on that.
just make sure you put it now to have a timer and say the device they are using. Sub categories help with the device, but how much of a difference is it though?
If we do use my timing method the difference between devices should be minimal. If you still lag try to close every thing on your phone besides the game and the recording software. That should minimize the lag
