I've been looking everywhere on more information about the Ocarina Glitch but as far as I can tell it's only resource resides on ZSR.
What my situation is I found out how to get in a certain room while keeping the Ocarina Glitch active but in order to use it effectively I need to be able to restore the default height and there's no ledges to do so. Is there any possible way that I can do this?
If you use the Ocarina again, it cancels the effect of Ocarina glitch, but you will keep your height; you need either a stair like the DHC one or the Water temple one to change your height to normal or a ledge there is no other way you can go back at the height you want otherwise AFAIK. So sadly I don't think your problem can be solved no :(
I'll keep testing. so close, yet so far from skipping flippers... Thanks for the reply though!
Flipper skip huh? That's interesting. Could be cool if you could send the savefile to see how you got this :)
There's about a 3 pixel area that you can enter the frozen octo room while keeping your height. Anymore pixels to the right(of the area with the switch after the part where we need the flippers) and you will get stuck. I've found that we can be damage boosted while not in bounds by talking to ezlo right after the explosion of a bomb. I'm uploading a video of proof of concept how we can get back in bounds with this technique. I'll post the link here when its done.
Here's the proof of concept for the back in bounds technique:
And here's the range of pixels that you can line up with to enter the next room with glitch height, if you center any of these 3 pixels with link you wont get stuck or lose height:
So far out of 3 hours in-game time (in these 2 rooms) this is what I've found. I also found out that you its possible to take two damage boosts from a bomb by being hit by a bomb and pressing select to talk to Ezlo one frame after the explosion.
Here's the save state file(I used VBAGX to get this so it may not work with your emulator is it's different): https://www.mediafire.com/?drwdzed8th00rd2
This will skip the Book Quest and Flippers which is about ~10 minute time save off the WR time. it will also skip the first Ocarina Glitch to Doctor Left's house trading it for the much harder Ocarina Glitch right before the Temple of Droplets. This also means we can pick up a fairy earlier because we don't need the bottle for fireplaces which makes the run more safe overall.
With all that said though it still could be a long ways away or even impossible. I'll keep trying different things but trying to clip straight to the switch seems like the best bet right now or possibly finding a new way to restore default height. It will be bad if i figure out how to skip flippers and it takes more time than the current route. As for right now I'm going to search for the easiest and fastest possibilities.
If I find more information I will create another thread that's not titled with a dumb question. Unless the mods can change it somehow?
That's the thing though, it's never been done and an easy answer is possible, with that said it could also be impossible. I just wish I had more info on the research that has been done so I can see if anything was overlooked.
What I am trying to do could be another dead end but I'm going to try literally everything to rule it's possibility. If that doesn't work I'll keep trying to find options. But if only we could decrease Ocarina height than it would be easy as cutting cake.
If you have any info on anything related to the flipper skip can you please post it? Google isn't my friend in this matter. Any feedback is welcome!
Mmh, I see. Well the problem here is to get in this room you have a white load, which basically take out OG status. Most places when you load them there is like just a screen transition, so it doesn't change Link status, but white load completly reload a normal Link. So unless we find a way to bypass this or get OG differently well, that could be interesting :)
I noticed that. I tried not skipping the big key and walking right over the frozen block blocking the 2nd door because we can use OG to bypass the part with flippers, which led me to find that 3 pixel area to get glitch height in that room. Sadly we have no way to decrease height in that small space otherwise it would work.
