Can I use my 2Ds as my platform? I have installed the game as a virtual console game on the 2Ds and it’s what I’m practicing on, I want to make sure I can use it for the speed run before I attempt one and it won’t qualify.
Hi Valcore, I'm glad you're interested in running the game!
It depends on the accuracy of the emulator. I know that virtual console is generally accepted on official releases but I'm having trouble finding anything online that shows the accuracy of custom roms. Do you know of a source?
If the emulator accuracy is ok then all that matters is that the gameplay and timer are clearly visible in the recording
As far as I can tell, there has been no issues with accuracy I’ll stream it sometime soon, and I guess you can verify if it’s good or not
I took a look at the link you sent me, it seems like it's probably fine but could you test something for me quick before I give the ok though? If you run through the game do you get lag when there's a lot (4+) of sprites on the screen like this (like test this exact screen if you could) It's stage 1 of Crystal Crayon Caves
It's about 1m02s in the video if the link doesn't work
I don’t have any noticeable lag if there is any I’ll try to get a recording of it There may be lag from the 2Ds streaming to my Pc, I’ll prob do 2 views, one from streaming it to my Pc, and another of it in my hands with my camera
Went and played through till that part It was the only spot that had any issues Because of that I guess I can’t use it? If so I think I can get another emulator
[Edit] Ok, it really doesn’t like the tnt boss I’ll look into another emulator I guess I’ll do one through retroarch
Oh to clarify, I'm expecting to see lag since that occurs on an NES cart running on an actual NES. The issue would be if you DIDN'T see lag.
The TNT boss has performance problems on NES too
Hey Valcore, I'm updating the rules to be more specific and inline with other NES games. I'm really really sorry for the ambiguity earlier. I'm going to be copying the emulator rules from high profile NES boards like Castlevania and Mario. Unfortunately Retroarch and 2ds won't qualify.
Again I apologize for wasting your time on that subject before
