Hey all, I'm happy to say that ZeroRanger now has an official spot on speedrun.com! I'm wondering what your thoughts are on the rules.
For White Vanilla, you technically get an ending if you fail the simulation on the last boss, and you do receive the achievement for completing the simulation in under 15 minutes (assuming you did it in under 15 minutes). So I'm wondering if anyone else feels like you should have to beat the final boss, or if for any% you can just lose to it, or if you're playing legit White Vanilla, you could beat the Orb Spewer and allow the simulation to end.
Should we have a separate category for beating the final boss and just completing the simulation?
And on top of that, should we separate White Vanilla from Light Mode since the cutscenes are different, or should we just run whichever is faster?
Similarly for Green Orange, should we run the post game version, or the main game version that includes the save deleting portion at the end? Or maybe should these be different categories all together?
I'm all ears if anyone ends up seeing this.
My personal opinion is that White Vanilla and Light mode are similar enough in length that there isn't much reason to make them different categories, and I'd like to make beating the final boss a requirement for a successful run.
And for Green Orange, I think that there should be two separate categories, one with the save deleting part at the end going through the game as intended, and another going through the post-game rendition with Great Oppressor.
And would separate categories for single player and 2 player also be something people would like specified? I lean towards yes on this.
Hi, I was thinking about speedrunning ZeroRanger Green Orange and had some suggestions for the categories:
I'm not too sure if the "end the game early via not completing the second loop" strat that eKoJordy pulled off should be counted as an Any%. It does end the game but the screen that shows up afterwords is identical to the game over screen except for the lack of a destroyed ship. It even shows the same "You Lose."/"Unfortunate."/etc text while entering your name in the scoreboard. I guess it is an ending though, and the screen that shows up is distinct from the game over screen so I don't know...
The other change I was thinking of is editing the categories to:
Green Orange True Ending Green Orange True Ending 2P Normal Mode Any% Normal Mode Any% 2P
As it clears up the confusion between running Green Orange and Normal Mode.
