Clean this up please

As absurd as it might sound, I want the GTAVC section of the page with the URL "/gtamemes" to be purged of categories that are no more than gimmicks that have close to no value.

Let me list the ones I mean: 69 HP, Get to (0,0,0), Shakedown%, Ingame 100% NG+, Good Citizen Bonus, Low% Bad Ending, Trojan Voodoo No SSU No Censoring, One Bus Fare, and Pacifist Army Murder.

You may now be thinking to yourself, "wow this washed up kid really hates fun, doesn't he?" But I gotta say, plenty of these came into being with me joining in on the memes in the past. I fully believe they have no place on a board like this, and that the board should be reserved for categories that could possibly deserve a spot on this website, but aren't good enough to make it to their respective games' boards.

I'll go into detail.

69 HP, Good Citizen bonus, Low% Bad Ending, Get to (0,0,0), One Bus Fare, Pacifist Army Murder:

These runs last no longer than several minutes and require little to no planning or skill. There is no competition to be found doing these, and the only reason I ever did Low% Bad Ending, One Bus Fare, and 69 HP (albeit in GTA3) was because of either boredom or just coming up with random goals to get while having a timer going, and not for getting an actual free WR to be shown to the world on the site. These categories cannot be competitive and are basically just infected spots sitting on the boards.

Shakedown%: Literally just Any% up to Shakedown. What's the point? Nobody even races this anymore, and it shouldn't even be a thing on here anyway. See below.

Trojan Voodoo: This is a really cool race category, but I'll be damned if some nerd comes up and tries to grind it for WR because he can. (spoiler: I actually won't because this is exactly the kind of person that this gtamemes thing caters to.) Just leave it in peace, thanks. Also, when's voodoo?

In-Game 100% NG+: Hey, remember when nobody wanted this to be on the Vice City leaderboard? Well now I'm here to tell you that having this category here is just as pointless as it was over there! I've mentioned this before but the point of it is to show off that 100% can be achieved in under half an hour, so a link to the best run (only one that matters) can be placed in the 100% rules or somewhere else for people to see without it being a category.

Basically, leave it for memes worthy of people's time.

Removed Get to (0,0,0), Shakedown%, Ingame 100% NG+, Trojan Voodoo No SSU No Censoring and One Bus Fare for now since I agree with you on those, they were just added as filler really. Army murder% i messaged S about so will update on that when I can. The rest such as 69hp/low% etc I haven't removed since even though I agree that they're only short runs that use require no skill, I think we should decide what everyone wants to do with these first. What I mean by this is that I would make sense that if we removed 69hp from VC, we should also remove it from GTA3 etc for the sake of consistency since both of these games are part of this particular board. Getting rid of categories nobody has used is fine and I'm with you on that, but I'd rather talk about the other ones than delete them and have everyone who submitted kick off at me

Edit - Removed Pacifist Army Murder% per S' request, although I still believe we should keep low% etc due to people still running them, skill required or not

If you don't like the leaderboards. Don't look at them. That's why they were hidden. Unenjoyable categories do no harm being here. Some people do care about this shit. Let them have their fun.

This is a meme board, where dumb pointless meme runs are posted so they DONT clutter the main ones. Let memers have their fun, here, so they don't shit up the actual leaderboards.

Cant wait until Gael starts complaining about there being no IG hundo board, and we're going to have the same fucking discussion again. People didnt want it on the main VC board, so we put it on HERE. Yes, it's still going to be as fucking pointless as it was before, but at least it wont be in the fucking way. Also where else would you link to it? A google doc? Way to go back to living in 2010. Putting it in the 100% rules, again, only clutters up the actual proper leaderboards. We wanted to keep it away from there, so fucking goddamn keep it away from there.

"I fully believe they have no place on a board like this, and that the board should be reserved for categories that could possibly deserve a spot on this website, but aren't good enough to make it to their respective games' boards. " These boards were made specifically for those stupid gimmicks. If a run is too good for this, then put it on the main boards. If it's not good enough to be on the other board, then it is no better than stupid shit like 69HP. I disagree with long runs being 'worth' more than short ones. GTA5 hundo+ would take like 24 hours, and I'd see no better place to put it than to put it right here among the other stupid runs, short or not. (Provided I am actually going to do a run of it)

I would recommend everyone who does not give a fuck about these leaderboards to actually do just that: Not give a fuck. It's hidden away now so it shouldn't be an eyesore anymore. If it is, then I'd like to see a screenshot of where it is being an eyesore.

Heck, I dont even give a damn about any%, but it's sitting there on the main boards like an eyesore to me. I just want to look up 100% dammit. You know what my solution to this problem is? I click the 100% button and look at those boards. But somehow even bloody All Missions gets precedence. My life is so tough.

Just because YOU don't care about some of these, doesn't matter that others dont. Heck, I dont even give a damn fuck about most of these myself. The categories that have people care about it can stay, the ones that don't can be removed.

Maybe sort the runs by length if the clutter of shorter categories is such a big deal. That'll push the short, more trivial, runs towards the end of the list, making them even easier to ignore. And it'll give the long runs, that do require a little more effort, to have a more prominent spot in the list.

I think we should make Grand Theft Auto Category Extensions Extension for these types of meme runs

@S. Get back to me when someone actually cares about a run in which you get punched until you have 69 HP, or a run in which you just get run over by a car, one in which you just RNG a criminal being chased by a cop and punch him, or one in which you just do over half of any% that has no value in being done as practice or as a race anymore. The other ones are at least somewhat worth keeping imo.

Also, I don't care about how short the run is, I care about how pointless it is. As I said, I can't imagine that somebody actually cares about the 69 HP run, for example. Why make this board in the first place if it'll just be a garbage dump of stuff nobody cares about? Let me know if someone actually gave you input on this by saying "please add 69 HP for Vice City" or "please add Low% Bad Ending".

Yes, it's hidden, and I can just not give a fuck about it. That's what I was doing until it hit me that it could be renovated to be category extensions that are actually worth something. There should be some quality control on what's allowed to be a category, which I think you mentioned somewhere, so that it would exactly not be filled with all sorts of random garbage. The point here as I understand it is not to fill it with things as dumb as 69 HP, but more things like 35/36 USJs, Any% Dupeless (isn't that almost the same as 7 assets?), All Assets (I gotta try that some time), and maybe even stuff like "earn $1000 from insane stunts alone" just to throw an idea.

About in-game hundo: good point, it would be better to retain peace by leaving it. Also, I had it in the rules for 100% at some point and it was not a clutter at all, lol. In the clarification that you must do everything that gives percentage, there were a couple extra words that function as a link right next to it. No problemo, but your point still stands about certain people really wanting it to be a leaderboard for some reason.

If nobody really doesnt care about 69 HP then sure remove it. But 4 people did a run of it (or a similar dumb category) so it must mean something I guess.

I dont recall who made me add it in the first place. I guess it could be removed until someone talks about it

Some of these points are restatements that have been made already, some are new

These leaderboards were made for a reason, which was to clean up the "normal" leaderboards of the game. They were also made so that people who wanted to do trivial runs to post their times so they could i dunno feel good about themselves? I'll admit myself is included in that group. But like S said,
Let memers have their fun, here, so they don't shit up the actual leaderboards.
Also:
If you don't like the leaderboards. Don't look at them. That's why they were hidden. Unenjoyable categories do no harm being here."
I also don't think that a category leaderboard should be removed unless

A. The only runner of the category (for example Mh with One Bus Fare) requests that the run/category be removed. B. No one has ran the category yet. If it hasn't been run now it probably won't be. (like MDvMMw/CE for San Andreas). C. A vote is held (on the forums or wherever).

I'm still of the opinion that this is supposed to be some kind of "containment board" for categories that just aren't valid enough to make it onto the main leaderboards. Stuff like 69HP and Low% Bad Ending started out as an in-joke, sure, but I figure you might aswell use this for them. People have been doing runs of them, and this is the easiest way to keep track of categories like that. This board isn't meant to be pretty, it's not meant to be perfectly organized, it's not meant to be an accurate representation of what speedrunning a GTA game really is. It's just a list of "fun" categories that might not even make any sense, but people have been doing regardless. There's no need to impose Quality Standards on something like this, it's just, like I said, a simple way to keep track of these "runs".

As I said, if a category is cared about, it can be added / kept. Lots of submissions in the past hours of silly categories. You're going to have to convince yourself first that you care about those before trying to convince others.

I don't understand why the sudden decision to take the piss though? We've agreed to remove the categories nobody cares about, as per your request. But seeing as you still seem to be unsatisfied, I don't think further action needs to be taken, as there is no point in trying to satisfy people who cannot be satisfied.

Firstly, on the only poll that was made there were less people wanting ingame hundo to be remove than the people that didn't mind letting it be or wanted it to stay. Despite that, all the runs got removed twice by rogue mods without any prior discussion on the forum nor discord nor #gta (at the time it was still alive) Same happened with a bunch of other categories and it shouldn't Secondly, regarding the point of it is to show off that 100% can be achieved in under half an hour, so a link to the best run (only one that matters) can be placed in the 100% rules, it's completely retarded. you could argue that about VC Any%, or just any speedrun. The point of a speedrun is not that it can be done, but the different routes, strats, execution and stuff

Category Cleanup 21/08/22

Hi everyone.

The mod team has decided that it's time to clean up some problematic categories within the CE boards, specifically extremely short categories such as Low% and Hooker. The reason for this is that due to their extremely short nature and src's lack of proper tools to retime runs, it is
