I watched The run of Dungeonfire In the strory levels Glichtless and 2 times he's doing a cube jump and it's forbidden. And just want to know if it's a alternative way to do it or it's normal .

Dropping a cube below you lets you walk on it, it is not considered a glitch since you do not gain any X or Y velocity.

Watch Skylobsters run for alternative strats.

Ok Ty for this precision. PS I don't need slylobsterr strats My pb is better :D

Cube Boost makes you gain X & Y velocity. Cube Jump makes you jump.

Cube jump =/= cube boost, but anyway, both are banned.

I don't think the programmers wanted that the cube could be a surface you can jump on, and i call this a glitch. (maybe im wrong)

So i don't really understand people using it in glitchless. Explain.

What i mean is that both OOB and Cube jump are two things that programmers didn't "wanted" in that game, i call it a glitch or bug, for me cube jump is at the same state than oob "going out the play zone". So why not using oob in glitchless Kappa .

Not raging or trying to mess up, wanna understand.

If you lay the cube on the ground, you can walk on it. You have to put in multiple line's of code for that to happen. It is actually supposed to happen that you can walk/boost with it all the time. But they fucked up coding that.

You say that the boost and the fact that you can walk on it were meant to be like this, so why you can use the jump and not the boost so ?

And also why the cube jump is banned if you can use it, maybe "cube jump" is the name for another glitch, but so you need to make it clearer for people to understand. When i see "cube jump" in the banned glitchs list and then i see multiple people using it, im like, dafuq WutFace .

You can't use the "glitch version" because the cube clips inside the character and pushes it out. So if you travel 300 units in 1 frame because the cube pushes you outside the game will think "hey fam, if I traveled 300 units in 1 frame i need to go super fast, rite?" which is obviously not intended. But Jumping of the cube itself is intended.

And you are right, cube jump is a quite inconvenient name. But I guess its too late to change it now.

Ok nice, i understand now OpieOP , erm at least one part but nvm Kappa , atleast someone was here to explain, nice answer time PogChamp .

Wtf... Like, what is wrong with my 6:19 you can find here : ? You said me i was doing a glitch (cube clipping?) at 5:55 but it is actually the only way to get this cube because he is glitched anyway... I don't know if you are talking about that, but if yes, just explain better. That makes me even more frustrating that a glitch is authorized in glitchless but apparently a non-glitch isn't. I want more explanations because i don't understand.

Man you should really run a game like OoT, MM, SM64 or Portal to get a better understanding of what a glitch is. The cube is not supposed to act the way it is acting, ( http://www.speedrun.com/Polarity/thread/8m4ai ) therefore it is a programming error and therefore a glitch. Just restart the level when this happens and you are fine.

So how did you not get the bug on your PB?

I know I'm literally two years late but I'm pretty sure most glitchless speedruns are fine with glitches that are both completely accidental and not beneficial to the speedrunner. To have that be banned is actual bullshit because (probably like this guy) it's basically RNG, I get that like 2/3 runs. Just allowing it to be there has no real consequence on the legitimacy of the category, because again, it only negatively impacts the speedrun.

If you think I'm speaking out of my ass, as an example the Mirror's Edge community accepts this kinda thing, and the Portal community technically does because otherwise inbounds runs would reset at any point you go oob on accident.
