I'd like to see Time Attack leaderboards for each world added here as well. Any thoughts on that?
Currently the TA leaderboards (at least on android) are reported in a weird nonsensical time format.
Runs are reviewed in the order the mods are available to review them. With a multi platform game some mods only want to review runs on a platform they own or have done a run on.
The speedrun.com guidelines that cover all games indicate that one should expect up to a three week wait for a run to be verified.
Please be patient and understand they the mods are volunteers and people with real lives. I know we're all excited about Sonic Mania and everyone wants to get their name on the board, and that's good!
Just don't let your excitement turn into frustration over something you have no control over.
If you check the video description Claris explains that there's a 2 frame window about 10-12 frames after the end of the score screen that you have to hit to get it.
I HATE waiting for air bubbles. They're NEVER there when you need them.
Did you use a tool for this, or stitch together a couple hundred thousand screenshots?
My second playthrough took a couple of minutes to figure out what was going on with Metal Sonic. He just wouldn't get in the damn machine. Glad it didn't happen on my first run or I'd have been totally lost.
Nice!
I did see that Claris confirmed in the Discord chat that you can wait in Time Attack before passing the starting post to get a more favorable cycle, so that's definitely what Werster was doing at the beginning of his run. Good to know for future attempts!
Meanwhile, I'm still working on getting my GHZ1 under 30 seconds I'm kind of in the same boat with it just being a matter of improving mechanics and consistency now
Take a look at Werster's run here at the very beginning: http://www.speedrun.com/run/zgng4g0y
It looks like he's walking to the left for a certain number of frames to manipulate the timing of the cycles and miss that flamethrower. Other than that, it looks like you just have some mechanical issues that will work themselves out with continued practice. Keep it up and you'll do great!
Given the rampant leaderboard manipulation on the PC I think we need full video evidence
Sweet! Glad to see the community is coming together. I just finished my second run and can't wait to see what everyone else is doing.
I'd love to see an IL board here, fwiw. It all just comes down to how much extra work it is and other runners' interest.
That's a good point. I was trying to come up with exactly what I actually meant myself and was having trouble. Are vertical wraps ok? What about Tails opening the door in Chemical Plant 2?
Thanks for the explanation though!
Hey all,
I'd like to formally request the addition of a glitchless category to Sonic 2. If there's any particular reason that this doesn't exist that's all well and good, but I figured I'd ask. I think the glitchless routes would be significantly different than the routes including glitches and skips, and would open up a new avenue of competition for the game.
Just my two cents. Would love any feedback on the thought you may have.
@GamerYogi I was hoping for this as well. I'm SUPER new (literally started training for my first speedrun last week), but I would love to see a glitchless/skipless category.
So... apparently, the final boss' arms are still active after you deliver the final blow. Meaning if you aren't careful, you can still get killed by them when you start running away for the ending.
Also, WTF is up with the platforms on top of the Pillars for the Aquatic Ruin boss fight? I see runners use the spin dash to land hits, but every time I try I end up coming out of the dash at a stand still.
